| Verizon Blocks 80 Took me about two weeks to get it running after the first phone call. Not bad. I switched the Westell to bridge mode as it's connected directly to my Linksys AP, but now that I know they block 80 (Verizon tech support said I needed to switch to bridge to get it working in my configuration - no, you don't, as I was ssh'ing into a box through the Westell and Linksys using port forwarding when the Westell was doing PPPoE). I think I'll try going back to having the Westell do PPPoE. No good reason I guess, other than another layer between me and the outside world. It's a little frightening going from a Cisco DSL modem with a serial connection to the Westell with just ethernet (you can't get to it if you screw it up). I might try the Cisco again just for the heck of it.
Yeah, so far it's been fast and not too much $$$, but they block 80. Ugh. I don't know if you can switch to another ISP, but I might check it out. | |
