| I miss Road Runner. I wish they would come down to Atlanta, GA and take over Comcast and clean it up. I would gladly drop Bellsouth for Road Runner.
My experience in NYC when I lived there was outstanding. -- The White House needs to go on the Atkins diet to rid itself of the fat heads ruining our country.

@rr.com | Your Point?
Sounds like someone didn't get their way, and wants to take their toys and go home. Good Riddence! Sounds to me like RR gave you excellent service, until you decided that the terms of their packages didn't apply to you!

| Re: blah RR Premium is prolly the new Extreme Residential package you're thinking of.
the Highest That RR Biz Class service goes to is 4000 that i'm aware of with 2000 upload speed. pricing is usually the same nation wide in all departments as well as speed. but looks like your area is a little behind in speed upgrades.

@rr.com | RR Premium is indeed 6meg downstream & 512KB upstream for the Syracuse, NY division of Time Warner Cable.

| Re: blah No internet provider guarantees you will obtain the maximum advertised speed at all times. I have the 6meg connection from Road Runner in Syracuse. When I do apt-get updates for Debian I routinely get about 675KB transfer rate which equates to approimately 5.25meg downstream. When you figure in the overhead that is pretty darn close to the max I can expect. Nothing to complain about there | |

Well...I have some good things to say about RR and some not so good things to say . Well here is my story: I first got my broadband access with AOL High Speed Cable (They changed the name to AOL High Speed Broadband first, and then again to AOL for Broadband). Anyways...I never really tested my connection speed with AOL here...although I think it was quite fast. Btw, I payed $49.95 a month for my AOL service. Then after about a year I decided to go for RR since my AOL service was starting to seem to get slower...I called AOL and stopped my service and the "AOL people" came and took my modem about 3 days later. After that I thought that RR had a plan for the first 3 months to be free...but then after calling them I learned that that deal was only for current TWC customers with a certain package and that you need to install it yourself (Which is no problem for me, I've built many PC's). So then I asked how much RR costs without the cable package and it was $59.95 a month...well at first I thought it was a little steep...but I still went with it. They came about 2 days later and installed it for me and the first thing I did was check if my Halo for PC lagged when I played online (multiplayer) I play on good ping servers btw (49-60) and well whenever I go into a game...I lag so much out of it that I eventually disconnect from the game...but the people inside the game are doing great. So I started to download some stuff off of good servers and noticed that my transfer rate started at one megabyte (not bit) a second and then got lower and lower until it reached about 60kbps...only sometimes would it stay at 120-300 kbps but never higher...so now after about 3 months I did many tests here and what amazes me is that I get bad results with the servers on the regular speed test page (I guess you can call them the default ones), but I get really good results with a server in New York (Where I live) here is the results for the server in New York: '»/speedtests/21···94955904' and here are the results on the default servers located in another state from me (Well all the way in CA): '»/speedtests/21···94957359' whats even more wierd is that all of the servers (the ones located by default) give me about the same low speed...and someone comprehend?

@rochester.edu | Speed Tests Your tests in NY are just fine. Your download in Cali are horrid. But I see you did them at 5:30PM, and you WILL get bad results doing a cross country speed test during peak hours.

@avec-ubr16.nyr- | Go with RCN Absolutely great, faster than RoadRunner and cheaper. Also never any problems. No joke.

| TW Broadband In West L.A., Comcast (previously AT&T which was previously Mediaone) was usurped by Time Warner and overnight the 8Mbs speeds reduced to a little under 6Mbs, the new TW advertised rate. If you want 8Mbs, you now have to pay extra. Evil greed is alive and well in LaLaLand.
That aside, service has been reliable and consistent, and their tech staff even helped diagnose an intermittent failure with a router that had nothing to do with TW equipment or service. Overall grade: B
