| Bell Sympatico hotmail problems Bell's stability is excellent...except for MSN/Hotmail. When I upgraded to a wireless hub 3 weeks ago, the tech in India misrepresented an email upgrade (he did not tell me it was a switch to Hotmail) and suckered my wife and I into a switch over to the hotmail email client. A brutal move. In two weeks I have experienced several ghosted emails, stripped attachments and two days of serious email downtime. Bell Sympatico will not switch me back so we are about to pull the plug on them after years of being a loyal client.
Several calls to tech support result in the bogus claim that they cannot technically switch me back to the Bell email servers. This is not a logical claim as I could have(and would have) rejected the email switch had the techie told me it was to MSN/Hotmail and still be happy with Sympatico email.
I am still lobbying them. This involves calls to their non-offshore call centres...who are superior to whatever they have going in India or where ever. Hint:call 8-6 EST...better chance of getting a Canadian Rep. If you get India...just hang-up and try again. I have never been put on hold more than 3 minutes (of 5 or 6 calls to tech support)
I am pretty good a schmoozing CSR's and all of them are admitting to me that the hotmail switch has been a disaster. One of them said that 4 of 5 of his calls are over hotmail problems. Bell has even started putting a little bulletin in their IVR path claiming "due to unexpected volumes the MSN email servers are experiencing a slowdown"...whatever...I have LOST outbound emails (no bounce message), had emails strip clean attachments out and inbound and had about 1.5 days in two weeks of out and out email downtime.
In conclusion. My wife and I have been a customer of Bell Sympatico since dial-up only days and up until 3 weeks ago would give them a 9 out of 10. Now because of their sneaky little switch on us to Hotmail and its brutal realities... 2 of 10 and were going to bail soon unless I succeed in schmoozing them to switch us back to Bell email. | |

Either get them to do it or bring you money to a cable company. Frig the "schmoozing". If they want you they'll keep you and do as you ask. | |

| Mail "upgrade"? Boy this review has me dreading the day Bell offers to "upgrade" my mail service to the new platform... I think I'll politely decline thanks... I need reliable e-mail service and I have it now

| sympatico goodbye I too was a loyal sympatico customer until they duped me into taking the new "never to be achived " higher speed service that only gouged my pocketbook to higher levels Sympatico seems to consider the passage of data through their system as more valuable than the customers data. Indeed they remind me of the natural gas transfer problem ridden area between Russia and Europe, or the boats of Somaila that seems to take all it wants from everyone just cause they are there.
