My neighbor just got his ADSL. He found out some additional information from the GTE technician. The technician said that we actually live pretty close (appox 2 miles) from the remote switching unit (RSU) where the ADSL digital equipment is located. My phone line had been routed through this RSU allowing me access to ADSL. They re-routed my neighbors from the old CO through this RSU allowing him access to ADSL. It seems not everyone at GTE is aware of this RSU and therefore our neighborhood is not being given access to ADSL. I was also told by GTE that if your line went through an RSU, that would prevent you from getting access to ADSL. Go figure! Anyway we both have ADSL and some of our other neighbors want it now too. It seems we broke the code for our neighborhood. |
