| Don't be fooled Ok, so I know someone who works for Cox in OKC. I can not access your acount or tell you anything that you can't ask for but here it goes. You can have two modems on your account at the same time. All that is done is the 5100 is dedicated for internet use and the aris modem is for the phone. All devices have MAC addresses. They don't promote having more that one modem but if you ask the "tech" to assign the 5100 because some reason the internet works "better" with that one....you get the picture.
BTW: The 5120 is a better modem and has a better firmware which equals a better stream less ups and downs. and it is on sell.... -- I am nobody. Nobody is perfect. Therefore I am PERFECT! | |

| Re: Don't be fooled As a previous Cox Customer Service Representative, You can have 2 modems on an account, one telephony & one for internet. Cox would like you to only use the Aris modem but it's the subscribers choice. The Arris would be provisioned for Telephony only while the other woould be provisioned for internet. Primary reason to have 2 modem is because if you have to reboot the modem(onnection prob, new router, etc) you will lose dialtone. Another reason is because of where they may have to locate the Arris modem to integreate into the existing telephone wiring. It maybe more convenient to have the Arris modem in one location for telephony and use another modem for internet in that case. | |
