NCTC in Lafayette, macon co. Tennessee is terrible

I live in Lafayette, and I have to say that NCTC is terrible, sad part about it is that no other provider is available because NCTC has a monopoly on all broadband and phone service. You cannot use a VOip because you cannot disconnect your phone line and keep your dsl. HMMM well I ran a little test with NCTC I had a friend to not pay they're phone bill and waited for disconnect, low and behold they're phone was disconnected but the dsl was running fine. So now I know that is B/S. We need some other company's to knock NCTC down a few notches. Oh and there NCCT is really a joke, don't ask these people to work on your computer if you still want it to work, I laugh everytime I fix one of there horrible repairs. I think there well aware of the so called repairs in order to make more money off the consumer here. Although being from Macon Co. It wouldn't surprise me that they are just complete idiots.
Yes "ID 10 T" errors are prevalent here. Hell trying using a four way stop here that is really funny, duh who is supposed to go next, freaking unbelivable here. Please some company's that read this, come here and make lots of money kicking NCTC's rear..

Yes it really sucks. My broadband is 128k and it normally stays at around 56k to 62k. It really stinks and they need to get us more speed for our money 128k is 29.95 a month when in as cable for that price now gives you 3.0 mb

lafayette dsl

i agree with this 100%. there prices r too high and the speed u pay for is too slow. i recently lived in hendersonville and got bellsouth. it is about 5 to 6 times faster for the price. we definitly need another provider.

Slow Speeds

The 30-60KB download speeds were well above your contracted 128kb speed. A 128 Kb download rating is actually only 16KB download speed as seen downloading files from the internet.

128kb is different than 128KB. Advertised speed ratings are in kb/s, while downloads from the web show as KB/s. Difference? Kilobits vs. Kilobytes. 8 bits in a byte.

That's why a 56kb modem only gave out between 5 and 7 KB/s download speed. Take 56k, divide by 8, and you have your download speed in KB.

Bottom line, if you get 16KB or more download speed (my in-laws get 20 usually), then you're getting MORE than advertised, which is a plus.

crap connection

i subscribed to 768k plan it sucks. 768/8 = 96. but my download speed is only at 70kb. i also did multiple speed test here and only hit 456kb. supports a joke. tried to charge me $10 service charge when i upgraded. they lady told
me that the tech guy is gonna install my dsl. ???? whats? i told her he does not have to and guess what she said. "ok". i might have to drive up there one day to c if there is a monkey working there because i swore i talked to one.
what we need is a bellsouth or a verzion isp. cheaper and more reliable. o i almost forgot. NCCT are not computer techs. i u ever ask them a question they better have it on there computer screen. otherwise, don't expect an answer.
