I highly agree

I had pretty much all the same problems you had. Their resolution when I threaten to cancel my account, was to just shut it off without warning. Nice huh. Oh well, their get theirs soon enough, when they no longer have any customers. If you haven't already switched, I would try Vonage. They seem to have it together over there.

Re: I highly agree

Technical support team is NOT well trained.. They do not know how their billing system works. They know there is a problem with billing system but ask you to call if there is any problem with the calls that you made. Wake up -- who has the time and resource to call Packet8 billing department for resolving billing disputes. It is not fair to except that Packet8 has done all kind of testing before deploying any updates. If packet 8 wants to be in business for long time, then they need get rid off arrogant and rude customer support or technical support personnel from the team and fix all the buggs in billing and voice mail systems. I am not sure why it is so difficult to understand for management team of Packet 8.

I am waiting to hear from of Packet 8.

Re: I highly agree

I highly disagree

I do not really understand how you would expect technical support to be responsible for billing. Complete separate departments. Anyway I have called both Technical Support and Customer Support many times with no problems and no wait time so far. The service works great for me and actually much better than South Western Bell, AT&T, and Sprint Long Distance. I have had many disputes with Sprint Long Distance and MCI because of billing errors and overchanrging that does not even compare with some of the issues here.

We are not talking here how the get credit from billing department. We are talking about the problems in Packet 8 billing system that were handled by technical support department. Most important aspect of the issue was to acknowledge the severity of problem by technical support department and address the problem for immediate fix with
definitive time frame, which they failed to do.
Like many users, I also had problems with the basic features of voice mail system. I think it is unacceptable if I can not even receive the calls because of added features of voice mail.
Unlike you, many customers of Packet 8 are not too happy and recent downgrade in ranking from Vonage also points the same.
Need less to say Packet 8 has a very good product with great price and we wish Packet 8 would be more careful about quality and customer satisfaction.

Thanks

Customer Service

I just wanted to let everyone know Packet8 is Awesome! There was a glitch with my voicemail. Instead of people getting my voicemail people were getting "We're sorry your call can't be completed at this time. I called and spoke with customer service and they tried to help me when the techincal support rep couldnt figure it out he escalated the problem to a higher tech and the higher tech worked with me until the problem was resolved. Called me back several times until it was fixed. He appologized for the inconvience. I think Packet8 tech support is awesome!

Re: I disagree

I think hondaman works for Vonage as he is always putting PACKET8 service down! I love PACKET8 and yes at times there are ups and downs, but what compnay doesn't! Vonage isn't all that beeter either as I have friends who left Vonage and went to Packet8!

Ya, I work for Vonage

If I really worked for Vonage, why the hell would I use P8 service in the first place?? Since usually if you work for some company like that one of the perks would be free or next to nothing service. Now, to continue on how great Packet 8 is, heres a few other people who, oh my gosh! Had the same damn problem I had!! »[Packet8] Turn off "call forwarding", until they fix things. . Honestly Aamoore, All I wanted is for the damn service to just, lets see, how can I put this.. " Work right ". It never, in the almost 1 year I had it, worked even 1/2 as good as this Vonage service has. Not to say Vonage wont start to blow at some point, I realise that no company is perfect. My problem was being ignored when I tried SEVERAL times to reach someone at Packet 8. And all for fact that they were to God D*am lazy to post on their website that maybe, their call forwarding ( which I used quite a bit ) was going to be down for awhile. I heard nothing. We got in contact with 1 of the tech people there that told us about their call forwarding problem, and that it would be back enabled at 9:00pm that night. Never happened. They dropped the ball, thats all there is to it. And rather try to keep me as a customer ( because thats how most business actually stay in business ), when I threatened to cancel their service unless something gets done. I basically got the FU letter from them stating just respond to this email and your service is off. But before I could even do that or discuss it further, they just shut it off! Now just like most of us here, the only reason we thought about using something like Packet 8 was to... you guess it! Save money!! Im not sure about where you live, but around here, affordable housing is considered $800k. And with a family, I need to save as much money as possible. Thats why I cheap *ssed it and went with Packet 8 n the first place, instead of Vonage. And just like most things in life you get what you paid for! Best of luck to ya with P8, hopefully they dont do you like they did us.

Re: Ya, I work for Vonage

I think u are making it up. Why have I had packet8 for almost 2 years now and only had a small problem which was fixed quickly and the customer service reps are very nice. You probably told the customer service reps off and if that is the case why would they want to help you. I know I wouldn't.

Re: Ya, I work for Vonage

I looked at the reviews from your link and I guess that I'm just lucky with the service that I have with Packet 8. The Voice Quality is great. My wife is Russian and calls many friends through out Europe, Russia (mostly Moscow)and New Zealand using Packet 8. All of our International calls have been very good and actually better than SBC. Calls within the US have been great and I cannot tell the difference between Packet 8 or a Landline. I never had a problem with Packet 8 technical or customer support so far.

Hey, You never know you could work for Vonage! I see you on almost all posts that have to do with critising another VOIP provider and that is ridiculous! Why keep posting and trying to make up people s mind on who to choose!

Since you know so much, did you know that Packet8 phone service is being used on the set of popular shows like Alias, 24, King of Queeens, Law and Order SVU, Will and Grace, Stargate Atlantis, Medical Investigation, Eyes, Entourage, and Navy NCIS. (This is for their Packet8 Video Phone)

Clearly PACKET8 is awesome!

Your bad time with them does not mean that everyone else had or will have the same problem!

Grow out of it and move on!

Peace!

packet 8 not the devil incarnate

as with everything on this planet... you can't please everyone. its terrible that some should suffer, but i seem to be one of the lucky ones that has had a good experience with packet 8. calls to customer or technical support are answered quickly. the overall service has been better than expected even though a few features are still in the r&d phase.

Highly Disagree

I have had packet8 for almost a year now. There were some down time but nothing significant(I noticed other providers do have down time and customer service problems also.) Packet8 customer service has been very helpful to my requests...Took them 2 min to change my phone number to a new area code I like it so much that I recommended Packet8 to my friends and families. I guess we are very lucky.
