Re: speed issue

I never had a problem with speeds. Just the "automatic" part of the "Automatic" speed ramp up never happened in the first few days of my service. I had to contact SBC (via the forums here) and get them to manually set my line speed to 3000/384.

I've allways gotten ~312KBps download and ~42KBps upload, which is about as good as it gets for 3000/384.

Basic phone for 5.75/month?

I have AT&T/Yahoo at my other house and you are telling me that I can get basic phone service for 5.75? I am paying around 50 bucks a month for phone and 1.5/256 dsl. So 20 bucks for the dsl and 5.75 for the basic phone line is just what I need. Who do I contact because I do not see this as a option anywhere on their site. Thanks in advance

Re: Basic phone for 5.75/month?

Yes, you can get phone service for that cheap. It's not on their site because they don't want you to know about it.

Call them and explain to them that you don't use your land line and you only want the absolute cheapest phone service possible. I believe it's called "metered local service".

Also, you need to specify that you don't want long distance. There is some bullshit 7.00 fee to remove your long distance, but it will save you from having to pay the minimum 2.00 a month for a long distance plan.
