White Noise

I'd make the Uniden the suspect for any noise. My Vonage connection is stone quiet - so much so, I'm never sure I really have a connection.

It's been good for me too, I think these guys are onto something. I'd recommend it highly.

Re: White Noise

SkyDude..

What kind of phone do you have? I might take this Uniden back, because the white noise and echo is really annoying on calls.

Re: White Noise

I use two different phones on this line - a Uniden TRU8800 base and portable handsets. Unlike the 2.4Ghz, these are a 5.8Ghz and they are the best wireless I've ever used. Bright clean display and the sound quality really is just like corded. The other is an older Panasonic 2.4Ghz which had always been a problem, but now that it's getting older, it's behaving. Sound quality is not the same as the Uniden however. It always has sounded somewhat muffled

Check the Uniden website before you do. They have a good knowledge base that may have an answer for you.

My Vonage is also stone quiet. The echo is the cable company. If CommieCast is having problems it will reflect in the Vonage. Road Runner has occasional problems and leads to echoing. Hanging up, resetting the cable modem, and calling again tends to cure these problems.

I red on other forums that the white noise is quite common for Linksys WRT54GP2. I have it too and actually didn't really know I had it until I red these posts. In other words, it's small, insignificant, doesn't bother me. If you have other device, your line should be quiet. I also have the same Uniden 2.4GHz phone but I don't think it is the phone's problem. I connected an older corded phone to the Linksys and the noise was there too.
There is however, one known solution to this problem. If you plug an old, unused phone to the phone port #2 on your linksys, leave it off the hook, the noise should be gone. I tried it, it works, but like I said, my noise is small so I don't care and won't use the fix in order to reduce clutter around my PC. But if it bothers you, try it.

Drop Vonage

Just a friendly note. If you are looking for VOIP providers, I am in the neighborhood. I found SunRocket to be a much better deal with Comcast as an ISP
