verizon service stinks right now.

I have 1.5 megabits down 384 kilobits up.

Since June 27, 2005 when I use video conferencing that does 300 kbits/sec up and down other applications as browsing, email, and podcast downloading slow down to the point that nothing happens. I cannot browse web pages, cannot download email or podcasts.

The verizon tech support department appears totally incompetent to handle this. 5 days have passed and I still see this problem. I don't even know if they're working on the problem.

Do you have this problem on Long Island in NY? Tell me.

Oh Verizon can't deliver Fiber optic service throughout Nassau County so now I have a munged dsl line paying the same price as fiber users pay for but they get triple my speed.

At least this Giant has gained good support

As you've posted I too have had Verizon DSL for a few years with few problems and some very knowledgable technical services. To date I've not experienced this modem synch problem. About 6 month's into the first year of service I did need to upgrade the firmware. Hope Verizon takes this outside the box, to say, modem life 5 years? All my desktops have different version's of Windows on them, my best computer is this Laptop (Apple), over this past year I look in on the Windows machines, reboot or update, other than that MAC OS Tiger so far has been flawless.

Maybe a query or stiff demand to replace your modem with a more up to date model.

Just a thought.
