I feel your pain

We've had SEMO cable and their internet service since we moved outside the Jackson city limits, which has been a little bit over a year. It's actually been doing pretty good the last few months but alot of times we would lose our connection. It happened more than it should have. I mean I can understand the rare few second outages, but as many times as its happened and the amount of time it took to get the connection back, its ridiculous. Their cable isn't all that great either.

What I don't understand is, Charter Communications is right in Cape so Jackson gets their cable and cable internet thru them. We're still in the Jackson area (technically Fruitland but our address is Jackson) but we're getting our cable and cable internet from somewhere in Sikeston. This doesn't make any sense to me.

Their service, prices, and speeds are very shameful. Like you mentioned, Verizon is way up there. And if you read about Comcast, they've recently upped their broadband speeds too.

When are these rural area ISP's gonna join the band wagon and up their speeds???

Re: I feel your pain

Okay just a little update. It seems they've lowered their rates since we first signed up with SEMO communications. We are currently paying $40 a month for 1.5mbps service. It was $60 as of May '04. I am happy to see this change even though I don't have a clue how long its been like this. Moving up to 3.0mbps may be something I'll consider since its only $50/mo not $60. And I'm very happy to say, their service seems to have improved (knock on wood) because I haven't had any outages in quite some time. (we're talking several months)

I may have judged them prematurely, but that review would've been very true a year ago when their prices and service were somewhat crappy.

Re: I feel your pain

Check your billing details for modem fees and the like.

My current prices11/05: »www.semobroadband.com/cablepb.asp

$45/mo + $5/mo modem for 1m down $50/mo = PATHETIC!
