| Why the DLink "I will hook up my linksys and make it the dmz point from the d-link since it only seems to get 18-24mbps compared to the full bw from the d-link. Up stream is maxed on both on the d-link."
That's why they chose the DLink, running special firmware, and most likely price also. Your linksys can handle the speed, but not the speed plus the PPPoE. I know ..... they're supposed to switch to DHCP in the near future. We're still waiting.

If you live in Foxfire, Firefox, Woodlake, Brandermill, Deer Run and a few others you should be lit now....

@verizon.ne
| N. Woolridge not up yet. You're either in Edgewater or Watermill. Watermill is in the Midlothian CO and will probably get FIOS sometime next year.
Edgewater will probably also be next year, however it should happen towards the first part of the year.

@mo.chart | DLink router I agree the Dlink leaves something to be desired. That's why I unplugged it and am now using a 3Com Superstack 3 Firewall (Yeah, the sky is the limit for computers in my home).

How come it's so cheap where you are? I'd pay $55 easy for 30/5. I used giganews as well and more is always better..

| I pay $45/month 15/2.
Middle of nowhere? I'm 5 minutes from Lansdale?
I used to live in the middle of nowhere, Perkiomenville, i had to deal with satelite internet access for 2 years before Comcast finally came in.
So far the only problem i had was the battery in the battery backup went dead. It sends out an annoying beep every 2 minutes. Called verizon and they replaced the following day.
I still wish they would offer 30/5 for $45 a month. It's true, once you have speed you want more.
I also have vonage and have had zero problems.

| What firmware are you using on your WRT54G until DD-WRT fixd I have the same situation, troubles with running DD-WRT V23 on a WRT54G V3. What is the best FW to use with FIOS? I want this firmware in order to set up a 1 user VPN from outside into my home LAN. (Used only by me from the same outside IP address.)
I downloaded the latest version of DD-WRT from the »www.wrt54g.net/pages.php?p=firmware site. I notice that the DD-WRT screen still says V23 beta? Maybe just an over-site by them or is this the case even V23 is reported as "Final"? Other oddities, when I enter my PPoE password, it disappears. I never could get the router to even connect to FIOS via PPoE.

| Re: question it took them 6-7 months after they buried the entire neighborhood before i could get cabled up. The process as I understand it is now taking shorter and shorter as they roll it out. Its got to be difficult to completely wire an area and connect back to the co and upstream. | |
