Vonage can change features at the call center, tier1 is in india, tier2 and every other department is in america...

the website is down because of migration/upgrading ...

Occasional frustration at a HIGH level

I have sat at a PC all day to try to adjust settings, make account changes or access voicemail...As you said, on balance, they're a bargain. They have amazing features included but the fact that they have had at least four years to work this out---and haven't--- is astounding.

To be fair, the problems do not occur every day. I have had months without issue. But when something does go down, it seems to take an eternity.

Re: Occasional frustration at a HIGH level

Vonage recently moved to new offices on the 1st of Dec...This office building was not ready for the move, but the lease was up on the old building. The move is part of a major expansion in customer care representatives, mostly in Tier 2 tech support. Vonage has added 900,000 customers in a little more than a year. The infrastructure needed to handle the kind of hits this website is getting, and will get in the future, would need to be huge. As for the site being down way too much for the last month, it is due to the new cluster of servers being brought on line, for the new year. I promise you these inconsistencies will disappear. Vonage is definitely making the right moves on the inside. I have noticed it first hand. Remember the other phone companies have a big head start on Vonage. This company is here for the long run. It is like a young child that has just gotten potty trained. Have faith, because growing pains occur in all young companies....

in response to `vonage has had 4 years to work out the bugs`

you are absolutely correct, and everything has been semi flawless for the past several months, then vonage induced a few hundred thousand customers, now we have to upgrade to accomodate the next few hundred thousand customers, then the next million...

You can change phone settings using your phone connected to a Linksys adapter. The adapter I purchased came with a set of instructions for setup and programming phone.

On a side note, I use Vonage as a business customer because I am not going to pay SBC a ridiculous amount of money for nothing! And the best part of Vonages business plan includes a dedicated fax line which would cost more money if I were using SBC's service.

The phone and price part of Vonage is good IF everything is working right. It worked well for me. (moved on for a better deal and service) Now if you have a hardware problem MAKE SURE it's not YOUR cable company or hardware! Now if your sure it's a problem on Vonages end such as a defective modem, router what ever they call that box that connects you or ANYTHING customer service SHOULD fix. GIVE UP NOW! Pay the early termination fee if it applies. (You will save in the long run)Send back anything that may belong to Vonage. Start over.
