| great review. I used to have Earthlink DSL, then OOL and now TW. Well Obviously DSL was really slow, OOL was very fast and TW speed is great for my needs. One issue with Earthlink. As far as I remember, they used to have in their TOS that they do not allow for VOIP , though themselves, they resell Vonage. I think that installer , who came to your house was actually a TW employee or contractor. My guess is that their tech support is in India, while others like OOL is in US( I have a friend who works for them in tech support). I never had any contact with TW techs except by chat so I have no idea, where they have theirs. | |

Did a six month spell with TW's RR service in Houston, TX and was very pleased with the speed and service. It did take three no-charge tech visits, the initial install and two subsequent visits to replace some defective network hardware which were TW issues. No charge, full credit for the down time, and I swear the folks I talked to were just around the corner. Each visit was completed within 48 hours of my call. Once working, all was cool.
Nothing to report on the Earthlink end inasmuch as I've just moved to North Carolina and am exploring the alternatives. On first blush, it does seem to me that the market is not as competitive here in the Bell-South area as it is in the SBC market areas. SBC (now AT&T) re-brands Yahoo which provides many of the extra services (A/V, Spam filters, etc.) which TW is just now bringing to market in many of its RR markets. That's probably a direct result of increasing DSL speeds. As always, YMMV.
Meanwhile, all I need is a plug and my email Addy continues to work, gratis, until I get a more permanent arrangement. Okay, they gave me until September 16, 2006 to associate it with a phone number. I think I can manage. | |

| EarthLink not available everywhere Comcast is... I am in Atlanta and I cannot get EarthLink cable internet over Comcast. It is in some markets but not all. Atlanta is one market that Comcast has not been playing nice in. With the recent FCC ruling, I doubt that Comcast will open up their lines. -- God answers Knee Mail. | |
