| Modem modulation Modem modulation is not very reliable in any VOIP. The VOIP codecs are built to modulate voice. They were samplings of speech. Modem squeels and blips and squaks were not built into the samplings and as such do not work very well.
Since the uptake of Broadband there has been no real need to revise the VOIP codecs to include modems, since who would want to use a modem over Broadband?
Well Satellite systems, Alarms, faxes we know the issues as you describe.
Faxes now have a standard to incorporate their support but modems and alarms are Out of reliability luck. |
