| 5mbps/3mbps, too good to be true? Why is it that I couldn't find anything about Hawaiiantel announcing that they will have 5mbps/3mbps? That sounds too good to be true. I'm thinking it would be as expensive as RR, but I would benefit a lot from the higher upload speed.
Road Runner was disappointing for me, it was too expensive.

| A Couple of Comments The reason why you don't reach the 3Mbps/768K advertised speed is because of TCP/IP overhead. It is the same with Road Runner, you never achieved 5Mbps/384K speeds. If you are able to get 80% of 3Mbps, you are doing pretty good.
I don't know who you spoke to at HawTel, but 5Mbps/3Mbps is not on the horizon. 5-6Mbps/768K is probably more likely. As the theoretical max upload on DSL is 1Mbps.
The lag you are experiencing is due the fact HawTel's backbone provider has horrible peering, hence it takes a lot of hops to reach sites on the mainland.

| High Speed in Puna I have the old Westell also; should we have gotten a new modem when HawTel took over? Also, is 11/7 or whatever even possible... and how? Will we be able to get it down in Puna (HPP)?
PS - hairyboto - have you heard about that new Philips Bodygroom? Go to: »www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/···-8394547 for a great laugh!
