Sounds like a tech who didn't pay attention in his FiOS class. Those drops are supposed to be at least 12' off the ground (unless your eaves are under that and then that should be the lowest point. All drill holes are to be filled with clear silicone. All wires are supposed to have some slack in it but it not supposed to moved or played with.

Battery

The batteries need to be continuously trickle charged. You may need to increase you frequency of swapping if you intend to get decent up time on the stand-by battery.

why waste money on a battery get a ups then you will keep all of your services during a power outage

Extra battery cost me like $14.00, and should provide much longer POTS standby than a UPS. I can go without data during a blackout, but want the phone to work.

not really the as long as the ont sees power it will keep the ont operating normally when the ont goes in to power conservation mode you will not get incoming calls only outgoing getting a spare battery will not help you

the power supply only draws 1.5 amps a cheap ups can handle that output for days
