Stuck with the Plan

Of course, you can extract yourself from the TWC legacy account. I've done it many times with a variety of different products and services and providers. Cancel your account ... wait a day or two ... then have your spouse call to sign up for a new account. If they give your spouse a hard time, just tell the Customer Rep that the former account holder (you) was a cousin who has moved away --- and the home address is now in the name of the "new" renter/owner (your spouse). It works every time.

I run a computer consulting business on this Internet connection. A day or two without connectivity would be a HUGE problem for my clients and me.

But returning to my original point--a point so obvious that I'd have thought I'd not have to spell it out: A business has to have ENORMOUS arrogance and contempt for their customers to "grandfather" them into bad deals.
