DSL Availability in Cincinnati

To All,

Originally being from Cincinnati, I keep tabs on the area pretty regularly. I know that DSL availability gets very spotty as you get further and further outside of the 275-loop. Regardless of the clout an ISP has, it can't make it's partner Telco/CLEC do what they won't. I know too, that Cincinnati Bell has been dragging it's feet pretty bad on establishing new service areas - excellent company once you get connected or live in an established area, otherwise, cable may be the only option for now (if it's even available).

FYI, expect headaches if you're not inside the 275-loop.

Re: DSL Availability in Cincinnati

I am in Hyde Park within the City of Cincinnati and am only 5400 feet from my CO which is well within standards. You are right in saying that any service outside of the 275 beltway would most likely be IDSL or Cable. I am hearing more stories by day regarding GC and Northpoint's hollow promises.

Global Crossing is confused at this!

I am a regional manager with Global Crossing in Cincinnati, OH. I read this review and am quite confused. Global Crossing has never marketed SDSL or IDSL (our two options) in Hamilton, OH, where this reviewer is trying to obtain service. According to our product manager for DSL, it isn't even available there. I am not aware of any colocated DSLAMS in the Hamilton area. I have contacted "wallaby" and am trying to determine who the "sales rep" was and how I can help to rectify his situation.

Re: Global Crossing is confused at this!

Confused? No wonder I do not have service yet?? The review indicates that I am within the city of Cincinnati, within Hamilton County, within the State of Ohio. I also further state within a follow up reply that my order is for a loop within Hyde Park which is part of the city of Cincinnati. My local C/O is CNCNOHHP which has current Northpoint equipment co-located inside (since last spring!). Since DSL Reports frowns upon reviewers posting actual DSL providers employee's names, I will advise by email. Still no word from CBT on when they are going to come back out to correctly provision the loop for Northpoint. Come on, its almost been 4 months!!!

Re: Global Crossing is confused at this!

Wallaby,

Thanks for the clarification. I was confused by your mention of Hamilton County vs. Hamilton, the city.

I am still waiting to hear from you "offline" regarding this matter. I personally approve all DSL orders for the Cincinnati/Dayton market and we do not have a sales rep who is familiar with your account. It may be that an "agent" of Global Crossing has contacted you. I am more than anxious and willing to step in and assist directly. I will treat your account with utmost priority.

Thanks,
bjjonson
