Emergency 911 service absent

You must be aware that Future Nine is currently in a violation of FCC's 2005 May and November mandates requiring ALL domestic VOIP providers to [obligatory, with NO OPT OUT] deliver emergency 911 service to all US based interconnected customers. FCC clearly defines a qualification of the term "interconnected" - any subscriber who is able to send or receive calls to/from Public Telephone Network.

There is also a special Task Force (read about in the above provided link) whose the only assignment is to enforce the above regulation.

Below is a link to a list of FCC compliant providers:

Re: Emergency 911 service absent

We are currently in a Beta stage, and as such all users are REQUIRED to have other means of contacting emergency services. We are not a replacement for land line service, and if you need the reliability of a land line I highly encourage you to stay away from Voice over IP. Emergency services over VoIP will never be as reliable as POTS regardless of what the FCC says - there is simply too many factors that can go wrong.

Once we launch into production (and probably long before then) we will offer E911. We have the contract in place and working on implementing it.

Having said that- even after we implement E911, I would still recommend all our users to keep other means of contacting 911 available. It is enough for an attacker to shut off the power to your house to prevent VoIP-based 911 calls from going through no matter how well we implement it on our side.

For your safety, and my peace of mind - please keep other means to call 911 handy!

You must not be aware that I am in Canada. The FCC has no jurisdiction here.
I clearly stated that I am in Canada.
