Down in south palm beach, same issues you describe, I had bellsouth for several years and switched to DSL a couple of years back. Since AT&T has taken over service has steadily degraded, I am seriously considering going to cable. Tech support is a joke, they can never answer questions about localized issues and have no information whatsoever. Sometimes you'll get an automated message about outages in your area but they are not updated frequently.
