| clearwire is hype I have had the basic plan $20 plus $5 for the modem for the past six months....they claim that I should get a mega byte per second with the basic plan... I use two different bit meter programs that tell me I average 110 to 120 Kilobytes per second (and I am two blocks away from their tower)... ah, but sometimes I soar up to 130 kilobytes per second...
I get one ninth of what they claim that I should be getting... and tech support? they tell me to phone tech support (they do not provide in [sales] office tech support...
Today I signed up for the unlimited (6 mega bytes per second)... at an additional $25 per month for a total of $50 per month, and yet I am still only getting 120 kilobytes per second... With free WiFi around town (Portland), I almost always get in the range of 5, 10, and even 20 megabits per second and never just kilobytes. |
