Re: set top boxes or recievers

Yes, STBs are now made by Cisco. It is my understanding that at&t is switching to them - increased reliability is what I was told. They are definitely smaller than the old Comcast Motorola STBs.

Both Cisco & Motorola receivers are out there. Which model you get depends on which market you are in. The Chicago & Atlanta markets are the only 2 that launched Moto & then switched to Cisco. Any markets that launched before Chicago & Atlanta still use Motorola Boxes, and any market that launched after Chicago & Atlanta use Cisco boxes.

All things being equal, the 2 makes are practically identical. The Cisco boxes are slightly smaller, but other than that, they run the same software, same inputs & outputs, same functionality, same interface -- very similar equipment.

In Lake Forest?

Do you have u-verse in Lake Forest? I live here too and I'm trying to get it but they told me it is still not available as of today.

Re: In Lake Forest?

Yes, I live in Lake Forest, but down by Cherokee. I know city said at&t would be here over a year ago, but maybe it took them that long to wire, etc. I still see their trucks around, so I would guess they are still working on it.

Log into motorola VIP1225 set top box

Does anyone know if there is a way to log into the Motorola STBs? I want to be able to stream media to my STB from my home network. I have seen some instructions on how to set it up under the Microsoft Media Center as an extender but I can't seem to get it to work. Any help or knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Even if someone knows how to get into some sort of BIOS or something that I can do any kind of altering to the software.
