| Re: You are Correct....... BigNet had some major layoffs a couple weeks ago. I don't know what departments were affected, or how many people, but I think some of the technical departments were affected. I haven't been able to get any details, but this might be a big part of the reason it's impossible to get ahold of anybody.

| Well BigNet Tech support is none other than......VERIZON! That's right, Verizon does there tech support, right out of good 'ol Austin Texas. The funny part though is this, I did Verizon's tech support in Atlanta. We did dial up support for a few different ISP's, it was all entery level sh*t, as basic as you can get. Then We got BigNet's contract, so we went from dial up to xDSL. Then after a few months we got are sh*t down and we were actually all right. We still had our share of problems, but most of that had to do with contract problems and our lack of tools (we could ping, that's it). Then one week they sent one of our techs down to Austin (which is our other center-we were supposed to be 1 center in 2 places for redundancy, ya right, that worked out real well) so after a week of training our tech came back, then they laid us all off. So that is how Verizon in Austin is doing BigNet's tech support. | |

| Poor business practices too. I work for a locally competing DSL provider in Michigan. I firmly believe that BigNet does promise their customers the sun, the moon and stars that they may not be able to deliver to their customers.
Unfortunately, it doesn't help the other DSL providers in the area. Marketing is often everything these days!
