[HN7000S] Web sites don't load 60% of the time HELP

Hello all
I don’t know if this is a Hughes net problem or not but I have tried everything I can think of and so far no luck.
I have a router behind the modem, it has 1 wireless netbook and 3 wired computers. All are Win xp sp3. I have been using this configuration for 3 years without any problem.
About 3 weeks ago I started having problems browsing the web, as a website started to load, about 50% to 90% would load then it would stall, most times if I refreshed it would finish lading but not always. This happens about 50% of the time. Here is what I have tried: Changed dns, tried both Firefox and Windows Exp same on both, turned off firewall, same problem on all 4 computers, up and dl speeds test normal. All the comp
Are up to date. EM, up and downloads are normal. Any ideas would be appreciated.

[HN7000S] Lan Red X SLLLLOOOOWWWW.....

Ok been reading the forums, and talked to India.....

I saw some posts about all the Red X in the Lan area in diagnostics.....what to do?

I am a tech and have gone through the router and without it, and it is configured correctly with DD-WRT V24......and was working great until a few weeks ago and speeds are around 100k dl and 100 to 200k up....

What is the LAN area referring to? My LAN? as i can connect into the modem fast and with no errors.....

Here is a snap of the log:
TurboPage Diagnostic Statistics
---------------------------------------------------------------
Status BAD
LAN side send block 835(35%) BAD *

VSAT Internal Diagnostic Statistics

Traffic Activity
---------------------------------------------------------------
Interface Bytes Packets Rate Activity
LAN Rx 514.20K 3818 13.71Kbps HIGH
Uplink 91.24K 940 2.43Kbps TYPICAL
Downlink 6.61M 8402 176.35Kbps TYPICAL
LAN Tx 5.83M 5433 155.50Kbps TYPICAL

Just the bad parts, but the red x's are more than 1/2 the line there.....

Ugh. And I am in the middle of no where........so no other choice.

Husage: A Better HughesNet Usage Report

I launched a new free service (http://www.husage.net) which provides better hughesnet usage reports. I wrote this little tool to help my family manage our downloads and help avoid getting "FAP-ed".

Basically it starts with the HughesNet usage report and reformats it. Husage shows download usage over 24 hour periods, highlights periods in color that exceed given thresholds, and sends you an email alert if your usage level exceeds a threshold.

It works for my Site ID but hasn't been tested for other sites. Feel free to try it and let me know if you run into any issues. Thx.

    http://www.husage.net

by the way, before i get ripped, it's not intended to replace hnFAPmon, as explained in the FAQ http://www.husage.net/info/faq

See ya.

[HN7000S] email with outlook & outlook express

I continue to get hughes server timeouts in sending and receiving emails using outlook and outlook express. This has been happening for the past week. I can get my emails if I go directly to Hughesnet home page. I have checked the settings and they are correct. I have no other problems (other than the normal periods of slow speed). I am on SatMex 5.
Is anyone having this problem? I hate to try talking to India.

[HN7000S] new 'official' fap tool?

i just got off the phone with "Martin" in India to reset my fap (^&*# adobe updater) and he told me that hughes was testing a new tool to track usage... he said it would be updated hourly (currently ~2 hrs on my 7000s) and give users the ability to reset fap without calling india and running through the whole "go to 192.160... blah blah" process. anyone out there know anything about this, or, even better, have a link ? i spent 20 minutes begging for more info, but he wouldnt give much up.

i hope it is true, this is the type of official tool that hughes should have had available, oh, say the day they started selling limited internet access. i know about hnfapmon and greasemonkey scripts, but "Martin" told me that this would be an official usage info tool. hopefully it is a bit more useful than the other official hughesnet "tools"

[HN9000] New Greasemonkey script pulls real-time usage info

I have a new version of the Greasemonkey script that pulls real-time usage info from the HN9000 modem and displays that info on the Hughesnet Usage page.

I could use 3 or 4 beta testers to try it out before I make it generally available. I'd prefer that any beta volunteers be at least semi-technically savvy. You'll need the latest version of Firefox, the Greasemonkey add-on and, obviously, an HN9000 modem.

IM me if you are interested.

thanks.

[HN9000] To Reboot or Not Reboot?

I notice a lot of the time when someone is having a problem with the service that a soft or hard reboot is recommended to try and fix the problem. I was wondering if it is necessary or a good idea to reboot occasionally whether you are having a problem or not.
I arrive at this question in thinking about my computer, after it has been running awhile and I reboot it, it seems to run better. Is this a possibility with the HN9000 modem as well?
FYI I have had my system for 2.5 months and it has only been restarted when the power goes out (twice to my knowledge) and have had only very minor problems i.e. the web response error and failure to connect error, so any advantages in doing a reboot at a regular interval or just leave well enough alone?

[HN9000] Explanation from ECC for Slow Speeds

Originally from a thread on testmy.net in the Hughesnet forum.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I got a phone call earlier today from executive support, heres what they telling me:

The engineering dept is well aware of the terrible speed drops and are currently working on the fix for HN9000 customers....the Ka band is getting swarmed by all the people moving from the older Ku systems and new installs. The beams are not overloaded but the hubs or gateways are the bottlenecks....more hubs are going to be used in the next 30 days to eliminate the congestion.

WOW! the NOC didn't think that one out very good did they?

[HN7000S] Can I get some New England sig strengths on 87W / AMC3

Location: 04428 Maine
Weather: clear
Date/Time: 5:42p / 11-21-2009
Strength: 48

Looking for some strength numbers for anyone in Maine, NH, VT and MA. Just want to make sure I'm getting the best I can. I've tweaked and tweaked and movin gthe dish so much as 1cm in any direction = strength below 40...so I'm as aimed as I'm going to get.

I think I have a(nother) tree getting in the way, but don't want to cut it down if its not going to help.

6 years ago (install) I was getting 65. Its slowly gone downhill from there.
