Hi All

I know there is the latest firmware 2.17 download avaialable at smc.com .

But i need the older verison as that is the only verison which gives me a stable wireless connection.
Does somebody has either 2.15 or 2.16 vesrion of the firmware (2.16 would be better).

Hope to recieve a reply soon.

SMC7004ABR Throughput speed problem

I have a SMC7004ABR Router, P/N 750.5432, Firmware 1.14, Boot Code 1.10.

I have written to SMC tech "support" twice within the last month, but they never bothered to respond. Hopefully someone here knows the answer.

This unit has always functioned well. Recently my ISP increased my broadband speed from 5 Mbps to 8 Mbps. However the throughput speed of my router did not change. Bypassing the router gave me the correct 8 Mbps, so the problem is in the router.

My manual says the WAN speed is 10 Mbps. However the manual for this model on the SMC website says the WAN speed is 10/100 Mbps.

My questions are as follows:
1. What is the maximum WAN speed of my unit: 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps?
2. If it is 10 Mbps, is there anything I can do to increase it, so I can get the full capability of my ISP speed?
3. If the maximum speed is 100 Mbps, what do you think is causing it not to respond to an increased throughput speed?

Note that I do not have the latest firmware. When I upgraded to 1.14, I had so much trouble it took several hours on the phone with SMC's tech support to get the unit to work. So I don't want to go through that again unless absolutely necessary. And checking the revision history of the firmware (1.41.004 is the latest), I don't see anything that addresses WAN throughput speed.

Thanks for any help you can supply,

Harry
