Sonic pricing - business vs residential

Can someone offer a compelling reason to go with Sonic business pricing, instead of residential? I'm not seeing much difference in features, just price. Does the benefit come in support response? Just curious, as I'm ready to move from ATT DSL now that Fusion is available to my home office in Berkeley.

Questions regarded to unlimited data usage provide by Sonic?

I am planning to transfer from AT&T to Sonic.net because of the 150GB monthly data usage cap. I believe my household fall into top 2 percent of AT&T customers who consumed 20% of their total network capacity. According to AT&T past data usage analysis tools, my household consumed 800GB data usage per month since we do torrent, netflix, youtube, and online gaming 24/7. The AT&T internet package has a download speed maxed out at 5mb. And I am pretty sure the download speed will be doubled or even tripled with Sonic Fusion. In this case, let say my household could properly consume 1.5 to 2TB data usage from Sonic.net per month. Will I get into any kind of troblue with Sonic.net if my household will consume that much data usage?

Also I would like to know if there are any hidden terms regarded to the unlimited data usage which Sonic.net applies to heavy bandwidth user like my household. For an example, will Sonic.net warn me if I consumed over certain data usage? And how long would Sonic.net stand for their unlimited data usage policy? I personally believe some heavy bandwidth user will also transfer to Sonic.net because of the unlimited data usage deal. And soon Sonic.net will be forced to apply data usage cap policy unless Sonic.net is willing to expand their equipment to sustain high bandwidth usage for continuing their unlimited data usage policy . Since a company like AT&T size is not willing to expand their equipment and blame everything on the 2% heavy bandwidth user, I would like to know what kind of direction Sonic.net will go?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Frequent disconnects

I've been experiencing frequent disconnects on my DSL line for at least six months, back when AT&T was my provider. I switched to Sonic a few months ago (the Elite level), and while I've been happy with them otherwise, I need to get to the bottom of this problem.

We can go a few days without any problems, but when the disconnects start, it's constant. We'll be connected for a couple minutes (at most), then it goes down, then back up, then down, etc.

The most recent about started on 2011-12-08. I thought maybe my NetGear WRT3500L router not playing nice with the Actiontec GT701D modem, but I took the router out of the setup and the disconnects continued. The problems persisted until 2011-12-11, then the connection was solid until tonight.

This is very frustrating and annoying. (Just ask my four-year-old, who really, really likes watching the old Spider-Man cartoon on Netflix!) Attached is the system log from the Actiontec for tonight. I see a SIGTERM that seems to coincide with the time the connection drops but I don't know what that means, exactly. I'll be happy to provide any modem settings or anything else that could be helpful in troubleshooting this. Thanks, everyone.

more fusion switch questions

1. How long does the switch from a non ATT provider typically takes?
2. If the landline ATT number is never used, does it expedite switching to just ditch it and get a new number from sonic?
Will the service be installed on a new pair or will there be downtime?
3. Modem settings are not included in any faqs.
Is it bridged rfc1483 with LLC SNAP encapsulation?
4. Can the dslam be set to +20dBm for longer lines?

Questions on sonic.net service

I am considering switching to Sonic Fusion for DSL and phone. I have a few questions.

1) Are calls to other area codes than ours all considered long distance?

2) What are the long distance charges to other countries such as the UK?

3) We presently have two lines: our main voice line and a second line that is mainly used for DSL. We are thinking of ditching the second line and just having DSL through our main line. Some in-home re-wiring will have to be done to bring the main line to where the modem and router are. Will Sonic do that as part of installation?

4) We have been having very annoying variance in our (AT&T) DSL speed. AT&T has not been able to fix this, despite installing a new modem and claiming that our copper wiring checked out OK. The AT&T techs here at DSLReports have been quite helpful, but when all is said and done, the problem still persists. I assume that Sonic does not have authority to check on our complex's connector box. If the same problem of speed variance is there with Sonic, how will that get checked out? Does Sonic interface with AT&T for trouble tickets?

Thank you for your help.
