troubleshooting intermittant ADSL 2 (Fusion) issues

I've been experiencing problems recently with my Fusion broadband. Seemingly randomly my connection speed is either being dropped in half (from 12 mbps to 6), lowered further (100KB/sec), or disconnected completely.

A hard-restart of my modem resolves the problem temporarily.

I put in an email to support@sonic.net but they couldn't really do anything when they looked into it because they responded during a time when my connection wasn't having problems.

Can anyone suggest a way for me to troubleshoot the issue and find the cause?

Should I track the times that my connection is having issues to determine what might be causing it?
Should I be logging into my dsl modem and looking at the stats/error messages when it is disconnected and looking for something specific?
Is there something else that I can do?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.
thanks,
-Nick

Sonic.net wireless service (formerly known as Pogowave)

I've had Pogowave for a while now and it's great service. Since Sonic.net bought them, the service has gone extremely downhill and the tech support doesn't know how to troubleshoot anything on their end.

Is there anyone else on this wireless service and if so are you having any issues too?

Again this was really great service and if I can stay with the local favorite I would like to, but if I have to I might have to say farewell to them.

remote terminal ADSL2+

I think i remember someone saying in the past that there was a technical limitation to providing ADSL2+ over a remote terminal or a repeater from a CO. I am not sure it is true. If it is I was wondering if this has been fixed? If it isn't true then I would like to know if Sonic has plans to extend fusion broadband to those who connect through remote terminals?

I am a regular dsl customer of Sonic and would like to upgrade.
