Lakers get the Cherry on Top: Artest!

Lol Lakers took Artest away from Lebron. Essentially swapping Ariza for Artest. At a pretty cheap deal too 3yr 18mil.

Now Kobe won't have to guard any high scoring small forwards Lebron, Carmelo etc.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4303679

Only thing is Kobe is going to have to send a card to Artest for that elbow. ;)

The NBA is a fraud run by NIKE and...the Mob

said by Sports Illustrated--> http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/06/11/donaghy.attack.ap/index.html :Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy was attacked in prison by a fellow inmate who claimed he had ties to the New York mob, a spokesman for Donaghy said Thursday.

"Verbally, there was a comment made that they were going to shoot him in the head and break his knee caps," Zaranek said.

While in prison, Donaghy has begun working on a tell-all book on "how he picked those winners 70 to 80 percent of the time and about the knowledge of the special relationships that exist between referees, players and coaches," Zaranek said.

"To understand his addiction, what transpired, you have to understand what led up to it during his 13 years in pro basketball and the whole culture of what he perceived as fraud and manipulation in the NBA," he said.

Kobe/Labron puppets and clearly biased playoff officiating aside, could this guy get whacked for what he knows? Especially if he names names.

I don't think it is at all out of line to question the integrity of the officials after the Donaghy scandal. The NBA's reputation as a fair and balanced league has been in question dating back to the Knicks & the NBA fixing draft lottery to land Patrick Ewing.

Kimbo Slice to appear on Ulitimate Fighter

http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/mma/news/story?id=4223959&campaign=rss&source=twitter&ex_cid=Twitter_espn_4223959

Mixed martial arts heavyweight Kimbo Slice may be returning to television as part of UFC's "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series, Yahoo! Sports reported.

According to the report, UFC president Dana White, who has repeatedly scorned Slice's fighting skills, confirmed Slice will be of one 16 contestants appearing in the series.

"It should be interesting, given some of the things I've said about him," White said, according to the report.

Slice (3-1), who rose to prominence via Internet footage of his street brawls, turned pro and fought on national television as part of the now-defunct Elite XC circuit. In his last bout, on Oct. 4, he was stopped in 14 seconds by last-minute replacement Seth Petruzelli. Shortly afterward, Elite XC went out of business.

White pledged "some major surprises" for "The Ultimate Fighter" last Thursday, when he announced that former UFC light heavyweight champions Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans would serve as coaches for the 16 fighters on the show, Yahoo! Sports reported.

In the show, the 16 fighters live together and fight each other, with the eventual champion winning a UFC contract.

White earlier had insisted he would not allow Slice into UFC unless he won his way onto the show by competing on "The Ultimate Fighter," according to the report.

The 10 highest-earning American athletes +

As much as we deify our Athlete/Entertainers, I thought it would be interesting to discuss how much they make...vs. how much we make. I hold no grudges against them (I ain't mad at them), they earned every penny as in a capitalistic society they are only taking in what the market will bare. It's the fans that drink the nasty beer, and wear the child-slave made sneakers and such that allow for this otherwise obscene income:

1). Tiger Woods; $7,737,626 in Salary/winnings + $92,000,000 in Endorsements = $99,737,626 Total for the YEAR.

2). Phil Mickelson; $6,350,356 in Salary/winnings + $46,600,000 in Endorsements = $52,950,356 Total for the YEAR.

3). LeBron James; $14,410,581 in Salary/winnings + $28,000,000 in Endorsements = $42,410,581 Total for the YEAR.

4). Alex Rodriguez; $33,000,000 in Salary/winnings + $6,000,000 in Endorsements = $39,000,000 Total for the YEAR.

5). Shaquille O’Neal; $20,000,000 in Salary/winnings + $15,000,000 in Endorsements = $35,000,000 Total for the YEAR.

6). Kevin Garnett; $24,750,000 in Salary/winnings + $10,000,000 in Endorsements = $34,750,000 Total for the YEAR.

7). Kobe Bryant; $21,262,500 in Salary/winnings + $10,000,000 in Endorsements = $31,262,500 Total for the YEAR.

8). Allen Iverson; $21,937,500 in Salary/winnings + $7,000,000 in Endorsements = $28,937,500 Total for the YEAR.

9). Derek Jeter; $20,000,000 in Salary/winnings + $8,500,000 in Endorsements = $28,500,000 Total for the YEAR.

10). Peyton Manning; $14,500,000 in Salary/winnings + $13,000,000 in Endorsements = $27,000,000 Total for the YEAR.

Top International Notables:
1). David Beckham (Soccer) - $45,000,000 Total for the Year
2.) Kimi Räikkönen (F1) - $40,100,00 Total for the year
3.) Manny Pacquiao (Boxing) - $40,000,000 Total for the year
4.) Lionel Messi (Soccer) - $39,900,000 Total for the year
5.) Fernando Alonso/Valentino Rossi (Auto Racing) - $35,000,000 for the Year.

Are our individual lives so pathetic, that the only way we find our personal self-pride, self-dignity and self-esteem is by living vicariously through our gladiators?

[MLB] Roger Clemens on a losing streak

Judge reaffirms ruling in Roger Clemens' defamation case; paves way for Brian McNamee's own suit

quote:A federal judge in Texas dealt what could be the final blow to Roger Clemens' long-running and costly defamation lawsuit against Brian McNamee, who accused the seven-time Cy Young Award winner of using performance-enhancing drugs.

The decision Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Keith Ellison reaffirming his original dismissal of most of the claims in a defamation suit paves the way for McNamee to advance his own defamation suit against Clemens, which McNamee's lawyers say they will file at the end of July.

McNamee owes his legal team hundreds of thousands of dollars for defending him from Clemens' defamation suit, as well as for helping him navigate a congressional investigation last winter.

“This is the final nail in Clemens' Texas coffin," said Richard Emery, McNamee's defamation attorney. “We will welcome him to New York to litigate. We'll file a complaint by the end of July on defamation and other claims by McNamee.”

So Clemens has basically lost his defamation suit, McNamee will now sue him for defamation, Clemens is being investigated for lying to Congress, and I believe Clemens is being investigated by the IRS.

I don't expect him to change tactics, spending tons of money going after people who've spilled the beans on him and lying with a straight face to every camera. But his tactics aren't working.
