[NHL] Is the NHL missing the mark on a great league?

I was perusing the experts' predictions for this year's NHL season (division winners, Hart trophy winner, etc.), and it occurred to me that the NHL is stacked with some pretty big stars these days, from Sid the Kid to Alexander Ovechkin to Mike Richards and Vincent Lecavalier. With guys like this playing in the league, why is it that we hear nothing about hockey at all? Im not a huge hockey fan, and I find its a sport that translates poorly to non-HD television, but I do enjoy watching, and it just seems that the NHL is completely incapable of marketing their own league with any kind of impact. I think a lot of people are missing out on some pretty good players here, and it only feeds into the general public's perception that hockey is a lesser sport. It's really unfortunate. Thoughts?

Do you think any Medals will be taken away because of this? Will this expose some people that we previously "clean"?

[NFL] Here's my solution to questionable Referee calls

For example on Monday night with Ed Hochuli's crew they screwed up on yet another call, a clear face mask call which resulted in a fumble and most likely changing the flow of the game.

Here's my solution, when a questionable call or play is made and the coaches make a challenge or a both challenge. They would be able to simply challenge the result of the previous play.

The Referee on seeing an obvious infraction that is so evident that they would be able to and after conferencing with league officials, enforce a special call on very rare special occasions which would be called something like an "NFL Executive" meaning that it is so evident and obvious that the previous play would result in the obvious such as a fumble or penalty or even a Ref screw up and even after a play was called dead like in the Denver game.

Everyone is human and in this day and age there is so much riding on these game and everything is happening so fast that we need a fix for the obvious.

[NFL] Start 'Em or Sit 'Em - Week 6

Well, here we go again.

This week I was able to score a couple of hot waiver pick ups, but now I don't know what to do.

I need to start 2 of the following 4 RB's:

Joseph Addai vs. Ravens
Steve Slaton vs. Miami
Tim Hightower vs. Dallas
Felix Jones vs. Arizona

I'm leaning towards Slaton and Jones because of the matchups. Addai still hasn't really broken out into an elite back this year, and Baltimore will be tough on him. Hightower is mostly a goal line RB, but I think the Cards will be passing more than running.

Thanks in advance.

[MLB] Manny Ramirez "Dispicable"

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3632077&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

Tim McCarver calls Manny Ramirez's actions in Boston dispicable.

Now, I hate McCarver as an announcer with a passion. His announcing can usually be described as "Master of the Obvious" and the tone of his voice makes me want to pull my hair out, but I couldn't agree with him more on this issue.

Manny Ramirez is an awesome talent. Arguably, one of the best hitters of all time. But his attitude sux. I liken him to Terrell Owens. When he acts right you want him on your team, but when he's pouting, look out.

It's only a matter of time until he's "unhappy" in LA. Then he will quit and lay down on them. They are stupid if they sign him to a long term deal. I hope somehow a really bad team ponies up the money and signs him so he can finish his career in obscurity.
