Weird problem resolving URL from Teksavvy

Can someone else on Teksavvy confirm whether this url is accessible or not:

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/forum.asp?forumID=3

It's really bizarre -- I can access this URL through computer on other ISPs, but all my home computers (through teksavvy) show a 404 error. This started happening yesterday. I tried cycling the power to the modem & router, changed my IP address (I'm on dynamic IP), & no difference.

Weirder still, www.pricescope.com itself is accessible, it's just the message forums that give me a 404 through my teksavvy connection.

So is the URL accessible or not, & if not, any ideas why it works when I try it through other ISPs?

bypassing torrent throttling?

Allo, I have finally bitten the lazy bullet and canceled my service with PathComm. I could live with the prime time throttling of torrents but the daily interruptions and slow HTTP traffic was a pain.

Now, moving over to TekSavvy, I could have sworn I saw a sticky post about suggested router/modems and method of bypassing the usual throttling. Was I nuts? Was it on another popular DSL forum? I remember it had a post by a TekSavvy employee with a list of suggested modems and the method to bypass throttling.

I did browse all three pages of headers and didn't see it. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

TBIT :hmm:

new mlpp offering

Hi. last year when I first joined teksavvy, I only had 1 pc and I enabled mlpp directly through my windows dialer. It worked fine with the Thomson ST516 modem in bridge mode.

I know other people were buying Linksys routers and using tomato and such, but it seemed like it'd take more time/brain cells and hardware than I wanted to invest in at that time. So when it stopped working some time later, I was out of luck.

Now, I hear teksavvy has solved the problem and is offering mlpp in a separate plan. I'm interested in it, but since then I have picked up a new laptop which came with a free DLink DIR-615 wireless N router. Can someone tell me if I'd need to get one of those WRT routers, or what kind of set-up I'd need with the new plan? Sorry for the stupid newbie question.

Thanks,
jam

2wire 2701HG-G + Linksys WRT54GL Tomato MLPPP on Velcom

Hi everyone,

I hope I'm in the right section. I've just recently given up on Rogers for Velcom and my 5 Mbit line is only pushing about 3 Mbits. Right now, I have the Singtel firmware installed on my 2wire 2701HG-G modem and I'm using a WRT54GL with Tomato MLPPP.

Right now, I am authenticating using the 2wire through the MDC. I believe I need to do this through the WRT54GL (with single link enabled) to uncap. I tried this and I get no connection. I thought it may have to do with the MTU (as it says 1500 on the overview page even though I manually set it to 1460 under Advanced/Miscellaneous).

What's goin on here???

Modem rebooting

As I am new to the ADSL service (had cable before), I am not familiar with details about it. I used to have a almost 'static' IP before, it would keep for months if not year or so. Last evening I noticed that my DNS client updated the IP address, I looked at the modem log (2Wire modem) and saw that it rebooted at about that time (20:38 or so).

Is this rebooting normal? How often would it happen? I suppose my internet connection will be interrupted during this boot process. Is there anything I can do to prevent that?

Thanks

Connection lost in Toronto tonight?

Twice tonight I lost my internet connection in Toronto. Once at around 12:06am and just recently at about 1:42am.

Anyone else have this happen?

Update: Had another loss of internet at 2:11am. My connection is strong and without any errors. I checked Teksavvy's website and no maintenance tonight.

What are the risks of buying an used modem?

I'm currently a Bell victim and I intend to migrate to Teksavvy soon. I've been looking for a modem and I just saw an used one that interested me (SpeedTouch 516).

I'm a newbie and I'm wondering what should I know before buying a pre-owned modem (besides hardware malfunction). Do I need to check if the modem is associated with an ISP or things like this?

TSI Usenet vs. Paid Usenet

Hello all,

In the past few months or so I've thought myself how to use Pan and SABnzbd+, and have used Usenet at infrequest intervals.

With the possible advent of UBB I'm considering switching to usenet full time so I can get the same amount of data, but with reduced bandwith cost. Right now I'm feeling pretty lazy which I why I keep using BitTorrent because I know it well.

Assuming I wanted to use Usenet full time, would I be better off with a premium usenet provider a la Astraweb?

For more seasoned users do you think Premium Usenet is a good deal?

I've also heard that some people keep TSI Usenet and buy blocks of Data for older stuff...

Any thoughts?
