[ DrTCP] DrTCP didn't help slow download speed for Me OS

Hello;

My high speed Internet has been running slow.

I have the Comcast HSI. It has an advertised download speed of 6000 kb/s.

I have got the Windows Me OS.

I downloaded the DrTCP and and increased the TCP setting. It didn't help much.

The download speed has been ranging from about 284 kb/s to 628 kb/s.

The upload speed often is much higher than the download speed.

Here's the test history for my Internet connection.
http://www.dslreports.com/testhistory/1690861/d97bc

Here is the Tweak Tester Result:
http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:3faeea9?service=cable&speed=6000&os=winME&via=normal

(The above Tweak Tester Result is after I increased the TCP)

Does anybody have any suggestions about what I might can do short of buying a new computer?

Thanks.

[DSL] Optimizing Connection

Results:

http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:67325b?service=dsl&speed=4820&os=winXP&via=pppoA

Test Results:

SpeedTest.Net results:

I used Birmingham as my closest city.

Internet connection: DSL
ISP: Opal Telecom?
Speeds:
DownStream Connection Speed 4820 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 934 kbps
Router : Netgear DG834GT

OS: WinXP
Network of 3 other machines and 1 Xbox.

Just looking to optimize my speeds, i get occasional spikes in games also, usually run at 60-90 ms in games but sometimes it spikes to nearly 200, on European servers. Maybe this is something to do with my settings.

I have been recently having problems with disconnects also but this could be because of the bad weather we have recently been having?

[Info] IE8 Unleashed on Windows 7

Just out of Microsoft - increase IE 8 WindowSize in Windows 7.

Good news - Windows 7 has TCP Autotuning and can support very large windows for high-speed data transfer, even on high-latency connections.

Bad news - IE 8 is limited to 256 KByte windowsize, limiting browser download & upload speed regardless of your broadband capacity.

Good news - There's a very poorly documented RegEdit that will allow IE 8 to use the full TCP windowsize. This can provide wirespeed transfer in nearly every connection. I got this from Microsoft support, who used internal documentation and some trial-and-error.

Apply the following RegEdit. The second part is only needed in x64 systems. This does NOT work in Vista.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"TCPAutoTuning"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]

[Tweak Test] My computer only is slow

My computer is consistently max download of 700kbps. I did speed test on another computer on the same network, download is 1700kbps. Mine is 700 or so on both wireless and wired on the same network. And also, drtcp shows different numbers than tweaktest. Here are the results:

1. tweaktest:
http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:4212799?service=wireless&speed=2000&os=winXP&via=normal

2. Speedtest: Fastest was 416dn/688up using Netaccess in Parsippinay, NJ (others were speakeasy PAlo Alto and LonkLine in Los Angeles). Here is the history:
http://www.dslreports.com/testhistory/1653590/23e54

3. Line Quality - see above, did not respond. But I did disable the firewall, so it must be something in the network.

4. DSL over wireless from Parthership Wireless

5.I do not use PPPoE, it is connected constantly.

6. n/a

7. Windows XP SP3 operating system

8. Advertised speed 2000kpbs download.

9. On a network, no VPN and no ICS.

10 Yes, it's a linksys Wireless G router.

11. don't know how far from CO. But remember, another computer in this same office gets much better speed from this network.

I get terrible speed everywhere, here and on the road. And my assistent gets much better speed on same network.

ALSO, note the tweaktest shows a slowRwin. But If I bring up DRTCP, It shows RWIN = 18876, and MTU = 1500. Why the difference?

Suffering with 60 sec page loads

Pages would load acceptably fast before I replaced my modem.

I now have a Netopia 3346n-002, purchased used. Before plugging it in I used a paperclip to push the reset button in the back to get it back to factory. Then I changed the admin password and entered my ISP user/password.

The modem synched up and now I am online. Problem is I now have a high latency with every single page loaded. Google.com takes 20 seconds to load. CNN.com takes 60 seconds to load. I dont know what to do from here.

Can somebody assist?
