[DSL] Internet goes dead after a couple of weeks

Computer is always on, it auto-suspends when not in use. After a couple of weeks, my Internet data stream just stops, pages don't load, can't fetch email. I'm connected but no data coming through, Windows' Event Viewer doesn't report anything unusual. A reboot fixes the problem. What's causing that?

I'm using Windows 2000 and XP, a Netopia DSL modem 2241N-VGx and a Linksys WRT54GL router. ISP is AT&T Southeast, download speed is good.

I'm posting here because, if I log into the other machine on the network it connects fine, i.e. the Internet hardware is working, so I'm guessing that more likely it has to do with the OS.

My setup: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22393791-Installing-Linksys-WRT54GL-router-with-ATT-DSL-Service

[DSL] Is this even tweakable?

Howdy -

I'm in a hotel room and I think they have filters on their connection. I can't ping or tracert anywhere. Also, my IP comes up from cableone, but the tech support number is for Mid-western atlantic and my ipconfig/all says it is a 10....IP

I'm trying to get a better signal on my webcam and I'm not sure if tweaking is even worth it...here's my info for my Dell D630 with ethernet cable:

1. This is what I get when I start the tweak test. Error...unable to connect
2. Mega Path - San Fran: 270/104
3. 30-06-2009 08:21 PM Line quality 0% loss latency 42.2ms
4. DSL - Westell 2200
5. No. Bridged
6. N/A
7. XP Pro (SP3)
8. Will say 1.5/384
9. N/A
10. N/A
11. link is down for line distance

Thank you for any help...

[Cable] Please help with TWC RR Turbo service

I recently moved into an apartment in Cleveland, OH and signed up for the triple bundle and which gave me standard RR service with turbo for free for one year. So in theory I should be recieving close to 15Mbps down(22Mbps burst yeah right :p)

Here's the info!

1. http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:485c26?service=cable&speed=15000&os=winXP&via=normal

2.

My fastest which is strange because I have never went over 8K at any of the flash based speed tests in fact I got about 4 in the 4-5K range and like 2 above 6K. And the fastest download I've gotten has been around 850k per sec. So i figure thats pretty misleading. Although I haven't downloaded much since I've moved in with unpacking etc. Just redownloaded some steam apps.

Here's an example of one of the 4-5K range.
http://www.dslreports.com/im/73740937/5354.png

What causes such huge variance?

3. http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2535112

4. Cable/ Scientific Atlantic 2203

5. N/A

6. IDK

7. 15 Mbps burst up to 22

8. N/A

9. N/A

10. N/A

I ran the tweak test and set my RWIN to 375k which is the high end of what it suggested so I know it cant be too low. But thats pretty much all I know to do.

So there's the info any help would be great! Thx in advance!

[Wireless/Satellite] Business HughesNet Speed Test Results

Am looking to get an opinion on setting up 5 computers to this modem. I am wired directly to the modem but I will need users to connect wirelessly as well. I guess this is a 2 part question.

1. Can someone translate the speed test? Is is good, great, poor?

2. Is there a difference in hard wired routers and wireless?

[Tweak Test] MTU Setting Help

Hey

Just recently I have started having problems with my xbox connecting to xbox live. Its giving me an error saying that my MTU is set to low to connect. I am just trying to figure out why this is happening. I have had the same router for about 7 months now, and have never had this problem till about a week ago. I have run the tweak test here:
http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block:51a8cbc?service=dsl&speed=3000&os=winXP&via=normal
and it shows my MTU being set at 1500. Anyone here have any suggestions on what I can do to try to figure this out? My connection is 3mb-non-pppoe dsl-with a zhone 6218-I2 router. I have went into my router settings, but cant find a setting for MTU, could it be called something different? Thanks for any help you guys can give, and if you need any other information, just ask.
