Port Forwarding NVG510 for IP Camera

I am trying to do Port Forwarding on the NVG510 for my Foscam IP Camera but can't get it to work. I can see the camera via the LAN at 192.168.1.103 but not thru the WAN IP.

I chatted with Motorola Tech Support and they could get it to work either and has escalated my problem to higher support personnel.

Has anyone successfully been able to view their IP Camera from the internet with the NVG510? If so, how did you do it?

Anyone having trouble around Chicagoland right now?

All the sudden for the first time since we got Uverse internet the connection speed has taken a dump and ping times have gone insanely high. I've rebooted the router a couple times and have done several pingtests, and speedtests to several different servers and come up with the same results right now.
Not sure if it's me (only thing changed recently was my profile rate to 32/5 but that was working perfectly before now) or if there is an ATT network issue going on.

Is there anyone in Chicago that is up now and noticing anything?

Youtube does not work with uverse.

I just switched to uverse from Comcast. I have the 18Mbps service tier but I cant seem to get a youtube video to load without buffering every few mins. I dont have tv service, I have the 32/4 profile, my signals are perfect, and I am watching with a wired computer. Has this been happening to others recently?

When I connect via a VPN it all works perfectly.

Is AT&T loop length database ever wrong?

UV realtime and AT&T agree that my max user rate is 44/6. My understanding is that (assuming that I'm not seeing serious line problems, which I haven't) this should be perfectly adequate for a 32/5 user profile and Max Turbo service.

Unfortunately, AT&T's database says that my loop length is 2246 ft, and they have an internal hard limit of 2000 ft for Max Turbo service. UV realtime estimates my length at 1800 ft (presumably based on signal quality).

The divergence between UV realtime and AT&T makes me wonder if AT&T's loop length database is ever wrong, and if there's a way to check on a particular entry and have it fixed if it's bad.

I expect that the truth is just that I have a really clean loop, and am simply going to be screwed by their internal inflexibility, but I'd like to find out if there's a chance of a mistake.

How far can you have your Uverse modem from the demarc?

I have two buildings at my property, one is a garage/storage, the other a rough finished office. The demarc is at the garage and about 400' away (via 4" underground conduit) from where I have my computer network and office.

My first plan was to run fiber between the two.

But I was wondering, would it be possible to run copper from the demarc over to the office part and have my ATT Uverse modem there? How far can you put the modem away and it not degrade?

The ATT tech on the phone said 25', but the wiring company I talked to said it could easily go 1000'

My location is about 1800' away from the ATT box on the side of the road. Currently getting 12mb down.

When will AT&T U-verse have native IPv6 support?

I have AT&T U-verse FTTP with a /27 IPv4 allocation in San Jose, CA, and I'm looking for some native IPv6 support. I've noticed that AT&T seems to be signatory to the World IPv6 Launch, http://www.worldipv6launch.org/, http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/June-6-World-IPv6-Launch-117916.

Do I have to wait until 2012-06-06 to get some IPv6, or can I get it earlier? I hope they'll be giving out /48 and /64 as a matter of course, just as all the guidelines suggest any IPv6 ISP should.

Fixable or Dead box?

When I turned my TV on yesterday around 10:15 pm, I noticed none of my recordings were working. It came up with a message about a delay and to wait for it to start. Waited, nothing. Every recording was like that. Fed up, I decided to restart the box. I've done this more then once and it cleared any problems I was having, box booted up normally and I was off to my viewing. Not tonight. As the box is loading up, I'm stuck at the AT&T blue screen for a while, supposedly loading up. Then Client Initialization Error pops up and I get the option to quit client, only for the same thing to start all over again.

I've followed the instructions here: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB401985&cv=803,902&title=Resolving+error+screens+and+m... about the Client Initialization error. No dice. Pulling the power and waiting did nothing. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Today, I unplugged the power from the DVR and left it sit for a while, now the link and record lights are blinking, but nothing else can be done, no reboot loading screen, no nothing.

Suggestions? Is my box or RG going bad? I've had U-Verse service since 12/10/10 (Has anyone noticed a particular life span to the silver Cisco IPN4320 DVR boxes? Or the 2Wire 3800HGV-B RGs)

EDIT: According to the tests the CSR ran when I talked to him, my problem is a dead box. He's sending another on Tuesday.

Advice on AM radio interference.

So I'm annoyed by the interference that I'm seeing from local AM radio (along with the crummy download 2 channel) shown in the attached bitloading graph. Anyone know how to pinpoint where the AM noise messing with download 1 is entering my system, and what to do about it?

I have a new aerial drop to my NID, and then 40-50 feet of new, AT&T installed cat5e cable running one pair into a push-down wall jack in my house. The 2wire is connected using its included green wire. Everything internally is running of of ethernet, HomePNA and USB are disabled. The 2wire is running off of a power strip that also runs an ooma telo (providing VOIP using my legacy phone wiring), a 5th gen airport extreme, and occasionally a lamp with a 60 watt bulb.

The new drop and cat5e installation was done 3 weeks ago. They're spliced on the telco side of my NID, there's no test jack available on that line (cat5e is the while line leaving the telco side in the image). The test jack in the NID is not connected to internal wiring. I don't know if it's bridged internally to that cat5e line.

Any advice would be appreciated. WXNT is broadcasting 2.677km from my house at 5k watts, day and night.

Fed up with my service

Have had Uverse HSI since August 2011. Originally got it with TV in order to get the free install, after a month of subpar TV service with screen freezing issues and loss of TV signal on a few occasions ( STB was fed from a brand new Cat5 ethernet run), and annoying billing issues we cancelled the TV and stuck with the internet.
Since getting Uverse the RG would lose sync 1-2 times a month, then just about a month ago it started losing it about once a week at least, usually in the evening....this is just like our old DSL that we replaced with Uverse.

Two techs in the past two weeks have swapped us to different wire pairs and all to no avail - so far. All of my neighbors except the one right next to me (who is served out of the exact same pedestal as me) have had no issues at all with their service over the years. The technician that was here last showed me what all my neighbors RG's were syncing at and every one of them was syncing at over 40 megs (even the one that had issues before), and capable of the 32/5 profile if not already on it, we're only syncing at 34 megs and can only get 25/2 profile/18/1.5 internet. He was supposed to put in a request to get a lineman out to find me a good pair and get back to me right away, never heard a word from him after the last visit though, so I'm on my own again.

after 4 days our RG lost the connection again, in the evening as usual... All of the neighbors on my block have looplengths of 2,000-2,200 feet, we're at 2,000 feet, so the distance isn't terribly long and doesn't explain why were having issues and they're not (in fact alot of them are on the exact same cable feed as us). Inside wiring to the RG is very minimal, just an 8 foot run of CAT5 straight from the telco side of the NID, to the RG, the DSL is on it's own loop separate from our POTS.
I posted in the direct forum a couple days ago and am awaiting a response. So far I'm just getting started but I already feel like I'm running out of options as far as getting someone to actually find the issue and correct it.
I posted my UV Realtime stats above, tell me what you think. One thing I don't like is the low Noise Margin...and I'm not quite sure about the bitloading graph either.

Slow speeds after upgrading to 12 or 18 meg internet | XP OS

Seems that some XP OS machines are not getting the full speed after upgrading from ADSL or lower speed tier U-Verse. If you upgrade to the 12 or 18 meg package and see slow speeds.

Use these two sites to verify speedtests. Check the two closest cities. I prefer speakeasy right now over AT&T's servers.

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

http://helpme.att.net/dsl/speedtest/

Also run a tweak test here on BBR - http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks make sure to put 12000 or 18000 in the speed. You can use DSL for type of service.

Basically what will be needed is download of Dr. TCP on the tweak page. Increasing your RWIN value for the network card you use to connect to the RG so wireless or wired. Save the settings and reboot the device.

Does Starz HD On Demand look different to anyone else?

Just fired up Zookeeper on Starz HD On Demand (don't judge me), and it looks different to me than when watching the Starz HD live feed. I'm not sure what the correct term is, but it appears slightly "jumpy" on long panning shots, almost like interlacing artifacts. In fact, it reminds me of how the On Demand used to look when we first got uverse back in late 2009, but shortly after something got changed or upgraded and the On Demand looked indistinguishable from the live feed.

Anyhow, just wondering if I'm going crazy or if anyone else is noticing this. I can see it on two different sets, one a CRT and one a LCD.

Is the 32/5 profile region-dependent?

My Max Rate is listed as 44kbps, and I'd like to upgrade to the 24/3 Max Turbo service speed (currently brand new Max Plus 18/1.5 installed). I've been putting it off, but I got a discount offer for an internet upgrade and decided to try and get this done. The Max Turbo service isn't selectable in the MyATT upgrade option, so I did some digging around and found out that I had to have my line provisioned for the 32/5 profile rather than the 24/3 profile that it's currently at. Assuming that there's nothing much wrong with my line, the 44kbps Max Rate should have enough headroom for the 32/5 profile.

So I contacted AT&T through their DSL chat support app (available here on the right menu bar), and talked to Moris, who seemed nice. He claims that 32/5 isn't available in my zipcode (46208, Indianapolis, IN) due to local AT&T bandwidth constraints, but took an email address and attached it to my account so that they'll email me when it does become available.

Does this seem like a plausible answer? Should I be calling in? I realize that I need a tier 2 tech to actually do the provisioning, but I've wasted lots of time over the years talking to support people who can't help and appear to be incentivized to keep me from talking to the people who can. If Moris is likely to have been right then I'll just drop it and wait for an email (or more of those slightly creapy u-verse door-to-door sales guys to com through). If everyone should have 32/5 available---assuming that their line can support it---then I guess I should call and try and get to tier 2?

Thanks,
Luke

Wireless internet connection problem?

I have 2 laptops that connect wireless to the internet. One PC would connect A-OK while the other PC had problems with "Limited internet access". I tried everything with this PC with reset, restart power off remove battery & restore to a date that was 1/07/2012. All of this did NOT resolve the problem. I reset the RG via the smallbutton on the lower rear of the unit and now this PC will connect to the internet. Something to do with an IP Address.

AT&T U-verse Modem

Hello,

I am thinking about switching to AT&T U-verse but was wondering if someone would give me the specifications of the 12mbps modem they use to connect to their servers. I know it's a fibre-optic connection through a phone-like port but can't seem to see the exact modem.

I'm not particularly interested in a 3rd party modem but since AT&T forces you to buy the modem completely I was wondering if any former customers were selling their modems for less. I assume the modem they'll send me is their "Motorola DSL Modem Model 3360" on their site but I wanted to make sure I was shopping for the right item. Is this the right modem to look for? Are there any other alternatives? Thanks!
