Strange audio problem

This doesn't affect all calls, but enough for it to be annoying. At some point in the call, all audio will drop for about 3-5 seconds. It then comes returns to normal. I don't think it's a SIP registration issue, as it doesn't happen every 5 minutes. It also doesn't occur a fixed interval into a call, or on every call. I'd say about 75% of calls are impacted by this. I'm running a VT PAP2 device behind a FIOS router. My inlaws who live 8 miles from me have the exact same setup, but are not experiencing any issues. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Double billed for E911 & Regulatory Recovery fee.

I am a prepaid user and I was getting charged the E911 Cost Recovery fee ($0.48) and Regulatory Recovery fee ($1.97). This by itself is fine. I enrolled in the Viatalk World plan and I'm billed ($8.95) separately for that on another date, the problem is that in addition to the $8.95 I'm getting billed again for the E911 and Regulatory recovery fee (0.48+1.97). This does not make sense and is unreasonable to double charge me for the same thing twice every month. Can any of the VT people reading this please explain if this is an error that should be corrected or is this double billing intentional?

Anyone hear anythig about an iPhone/iTouch app in the works to control our Viatalk Control Panel? I know that I can bring up Safari but it is not very user friendly on the small screen. How about a native app for Viatalk Control Panel!!

Problems with viatalk

signed up with via talk on oct. 18, received ata on oct 20, first problem was that temp number was bad, that was determined I believe on oct. 27, finally got new temp number after a few calls on nov. 3rd but when I received the new number, found out the ata was bad, received new ata on nov. 6th, now working. Not sure if I want to keep the service after all the problems, had att cv since startup, with no problems, had no problems faxing, or with alarm system, but can not fax with viatalk, codec for fax not implemented in ata I assume

Second line alternatives?

I know I run the risk of being yelled at that this is not the proper forum to post this, but since it does relate to ViaTalk, I thought I might be ok.

Right now I have ViaTalk on line 1 of my unlocked SPA2102. I am wanting to get a second number for line 2 and thought I would try out another provider. Can people suggest a different provider that would not tell me that I would have to update my firmware (PhonePower tech support just told me this).

It is not that I am unhappy with ViaTalk, it is just that I figured since they don't seem to offer a discount for lighting up a full second phone line, that I might as well have a different provider in case of problems and for comparison.

Thanks!

Giving credit where credit is due. Converted from BYOD to VT-provisioned account on Thursday. Adapter arrived today, plugged it in, didn't have to make any changes on my network, it immediately registered and calls are working just fine. Thanks for a smooth transition, VT :)

ViaTalk updated their Terms of Service regarding fraud use

Have anyone noticed that ViaTalk updated their TOS on 10/20/2009 by removing the clause regarding fraudulently used service. The removed sentence is:

"If you feel that your service has been fraudulently used or stolen, you must notify us within 30 days or you will be held responsible for any additional service charges generated.".

You can still see the old version on Google cached page at:

http://www.google.com/search?q=viatalk+tos

http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:lnSjboouUWQJ:support.viatalk.com/index.php%3F_a%3Dknowledgebase%26_j%3Dquestiondetails%26_i%3D107%26nav%3D%2B%2526gt%253B%2B%253Ca%2Bhref%253D'index.php%253F_a%253Dknowledgebase%2526_j%253Dsubcat%2526_i%253D2'%253EBilling%253C%252Fa%253E%2B%2526gt%253B

According Google, the snapshot of the page was captured on Oct 16, 2009 18:11:56 GMT. I've also attached a copy of their old version in PDF here in case Google cache get updated.

Phone keeps lighting up/resetting

I just switched to viatalk, using the linksys box they ship and have it plugged into my wall so all of the phones in my house will be using viatalk. (Yes, I unplugged from the telephone company first, to make sure I didn't damage any hardware.)

I only have one phone plugged in: a Motorola L402C wired base with wireless handset:
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Corded-and-Cordless-Phones/L402C-DECT-6-0-Cordless-phone-US-EN

Unfortunately since I switched to viatalk, the phone backlight turns on about once per minute and resets the time to something weird. It also prevents us from programming the phone because in the middle of doing anything it resets back to the home screen. (that includes scrolling through the caller ID and deleting missed calls)

I've also noticed that every call is a missed call. Even ones I answer.

I'm still sticking with viatalk, but I have to admit it would be awesome to figure out what is causing this.

I'm up for tinkering with the linksys box if I need to. I'm very comfortable with networking, just a little new to VOIP.
