Viatalk's forums.hostrocket.com should be taken down

Viatalk should really take down their forums sine they are embarrassment to the way the company runs (or doesn't run) things.

Nothing but spambots there.

I would post there but I don't think it would be heard above the noise.

VT SIP setting for Fring/Nokia e&1x?

I recently upgraded my phone to the Nokia E71x, and one of the things I am trying to do is VoIP over the data plan.

From what I am reading, it looks like Fring is the way to go, but I can't seem to get the configuration correct.

Fring SIP (Other) available settings:
User-ID: (VT number)
Password : (from VT xten config)
Proxy Address: galvatron.vtnoc.net

Those are all the settings in Fring, and when it tries to subscribe, it cannot.

Anyone been through this before?

Access Control Panel from within Windows 7 Media Center

Viatalk;
I want to have a Windows 7 Media Center. Things like my voice mail, caller logs, and have a popup Caller ID when the phone rings.

Vonage and other VOIP publish APIs to allow developers to access their control panel.

Does ViaTalk have any published APIs. can we get info on how to access the data?

Does ViaTalk have any plans to provide an ADD-IN to W7 WMC?

Cannot Receive Calls!

It's been about a week or so by now that I'm having consistent problems receiving calls. I'm NOT having any problems calling out.

When calling my VT line (from my cell phone or a landline) I get that dreaded message saying "The person at extension "my number" is unavailable. Please leave your message after the tone."

I've changed my servers from galvatron.vtnoc.net to hightower.vtnoc.net and to megatron.vtnoc.net and now back to galvatron. None of which has made a difference.

When I power cycle the adapter (BYOD - SPA 2002), it works for few minutes before getting the same message "The person at...." I've also power cycled the router, but that hasn't made a difference. In addition, my hardware has remained the same and hasn't changed; nor have my settings.

After failing to fix the problem myself, I opened a ticket with tech support couple of days ago who replied with the standard response that I need to have the DMZ enabled. Again, no changes have been made in the hardware nor the settings of the router. The only thing changed is me not receiving calls! As a temporary solution, I had enabled simultaneous ring to my cell phone, just so I don't miss out on incoming calls.

I do recall having the same problem about a year ago or so when VT made some upgrade changes on their side. I was given similar response about enabling the DMZ. I even tried it using a different router with the recommended settings, but the problem kept occurring. Finally, after going back and forth for a bit Brendan mentioned something about keeping a legacy server for BYOD customers (since many of them were having problems after the system upgrade), which eventually fixed the problem. A year later, I'm back to having the same problem. Has anything changed from the back end? Why am I having this intermittent service? What can be done to fix this problem?

I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Can't listen to VM on the website

Anyone else having issue with VM on the website?

I see my list but any message I click on, it loads for a bit and then shows as 0:00. I click Download and get an error page that just says: AN Error has occurred.

I opened a ticket with VT (ZAH-94756) just now but wanted to see if it's just me or if anyone else is having the same problem...

Strange audio problem

This doesn't affect all calls, but enough for it to be annoying. At some point in the call, all audio will drop for about 3-5 seconds. It then comes returns to normal. I don't think it's a SIP registration issue, as it doesn't happen every 5 minutes. It also doesn't occur a fixed interval into a call, or on every call. I'd say about 75% of calls are impacted by this. I'm running a VT PAP2 device behind a FIOS router. My inlaws who live 8 miles from me have the exact same setup, but are not experiencing any issues. Any thoughts/suggestions?
