Vonage questions?

I'm currently a Comcast VOIP user and my current offer will be expiring soon and I'm looking for a permanent price solution. (One that will save me 37 a month over what I'm doing right now if my numbers are right.) I've been drawn back to Vonage. (Looked into it back in 2004, but they didn't have what I wanted at the time, so I went with another service.) But I have a few Q's before I make any changes.

On the Vonage home page, it has an offer of 9.99 a month for 3 months, then 25.99 plus taxes and fees with 1 year agreement.

Does that mean the 25.99 price after the 3 months lasts for only a year? If so, what will be the permanent monthly price after the year is up?

What do most people pay as a permanent monthly price?

What equipment does Vonage send out these days for online sign ups?

The Vonage sign up page says free activation, free equipment and free shipping, with the only price point being the 9.99 a month for Vonage world service plan.

Is that right?

Plus, they mention a 30 dollar best buy gift card for online orders. Anybody have experience with this?

Is Vonage 7 or 10-11 digit dialing? I used AT&T CallVantage before and I had to dial all 10 digits to connect to the number. Drove some people in my house nuts.

911 issues? How's that work? I know Comcast had E911 and had no issues with finding me. I have one of those medical alert systems, so I might have to confirm a few things once I port over with Vonage

Also, I'm looking to port my number from Comcast to Vonage. Vonage says I can do this, but has anyone going from Comcast to Vonage have any luck with this working successfully? What do I do and how long will it take?

The number porting says Good News! We will be able to transfer the phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx to your new Vonage service.

Important information concerning number transfer

Please note:

Do not contact your phone company/carrier to disconnect your local telephone service.
Your telephone number must be active with your old phone company for us to transfer your number to Vonage.
You will need to authorize the transfer of your number later in the order process.
Transferring a number may take up to 10 business days to complete.
During the transfer period, your current phone line will continue to operate normally. You can install and use your Vonage service as soon as you receive your adapter.
While you're waiting on the number transfer, you can still take advantage of all the great features Vonage has to offer.

How long will it be until the port completes that I can DC my Comcast voice service? Do they do it for me? Or do I have to? And what do they mean I can use my service as soon as I get the adaptor? My current Comcast service would still be working, so how would I use Vonage instead?

My Comcast number is set to be unlisted/unpublished. Does Vonage have something like that or is my ported number available to whomever to find and bother me?

Thanks for the help. I'm looking to begin the changes as soon as I get my answers.

A while back vonage offered a deal $10 per month and it would stay that way as long as you didn't change anything. I was wondering if anyone still has that and was curious after all taxes and whatnot, what is your total bill now if you dont mind me asking.

VDV-22 hardware/software versions

This is what I have after e-mailing Vonage and them doing things from their end due to me asking them about an issue I was having with call waiting, which that topic is here, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28342372-Phone-disconnects-when-incoming-call-call-waiting-

Hardware Version:
VDV-22: 115
Software Version:
3.2.11-0.5.1

Does anyone know exactly when those updated versions came out? I don't check that stuff very often, but I know that's not the software version I had last time I looked.

Just curious if my stuff just got updated or not or when it did compared to when my issue first started.

Thank you

Edit:
My reply from Vonage e-mail about having to reboot everything after they refreshed my line:

Thank you for replying to this email.

Yes, our system updates the latest firmware of the device whenever we refreshed the line properties. Yesterday, the firmware of your device was updated by our system after we refreshed the line properties.
