Server 2k3 cannot connect to VPN via L2TP over IPsec

I recently set up a VPN server on a 2k3 machine, and it worked flawlessly when I had the client select "Type of VPN: Automatic". However, when I manually changed the type to L2TP over IPsec, entered a PSK (This is using the built in Vista VPN CLient), then in the Routing and Remote Access configuation, I right click my server name, go to properties, then the security tab, and check "Allow custom IPsec policy for L2TP connections" and enter the same PSK, attempting to connect to the server generates the following client error: "Error 732: Your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols."

One the server in Event Viewer I get: "Unable to add the interface {FE282F3E-B086-43D9-8AD5-AFC281B11CB0} with the Router Manager for the IP protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete this function."

Any suggestions as to what I can do to solve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry to cross-post, but I also posted about this in the MS forum, but wasn't able to get a solution. However, I put up a bunch of screenshots here:

VPN and FIOS

URL=http://www.speedtest.net] [/URL]

I need help from the networking gurus at this site. I've had DSL before and had no issues with VPN to my company's server. I use Cisco VPN Client 4.0.5 D to connect. I recently upgraded to FIOS 15/2. When not connected to VPN, the speed is great. But once I'm on VPN, the above speed comes up. Sometimes it's even slower, all the way down to less than 500kbps. My company's internet aggregator, iPass said they do not support FIOS yet because of this issue. They have no idea why this is happening on fiber and not on DSL or Cable. I used my iPass provided router, Zyxel g2000 plus V2, same results. I used my own router, Buffalo WHR-HP-54G on Tomato 1.19, still the same results. The same results with Verizon's Actiontec router.
Cisco connects via IPsec over UDP port 4500 (NAT-PAT?). I have forwarded ports 500, 50, 51, 1700, 1723, 4500. I played with different MTUs, my company's MTU is 1300, TCP window size but still no luck.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Connecting to a Cisco VPN through a home network

Hi There,

I'm trying to connect to my offices VPN from home. When i connect directly to my dsl modem i have no problems but when i'm connected to my router I get the message

"Secure VPN connection terminated by the client. the remote peer is no longer responding."

I'm using Cisco System VPN client 4.8. I'm connecting from a vista machine but have also tried it from an XP machine with the same results.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to setting this type of thing up. What steps do i need to take to get this working?

VPN connects, Nothing More

I am running a WRVS440N, on a DSL network.
I have configured it (as best I can w/ my limited experience.
When I run the QuickVPN, it gets: Connecting, Verifying Server...and then times out, message says Gateway did not respond, you will now be disconnected.
I DID have it before where it would go to "Connected" and then nothing else.
I was unable to map a drive, or connect to the Exchange box.Seemed there was no Authentication page.
Ideas?

Zywall IPSec VPN Client - Can't reconnect

Hi

I got a problem with ZyWall VPN client 2.0.204.61.07

Everything works fine when connecting to our main office when i start up ZyWall VPN Client.

The problem is when the connection falls out, then it won't reconnect to our server again, unless i shut down ZyWall VPN Client, and restarts the program.

There should be no problem with the connection.

When this program trying to reconnect it is halting at "Sending phase 2 ID".

My client running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2, and are fully updated from microsoft update.

ZyXel support in Denmark don't have a solution.

Does any have same problem?

Openvpn issue

Hello,

I am trying to set up an OpenVPN to access my home workstation from the office. Office firwall uses an ISA server. I can only use ports 8080 or 443 otherwise I get error message:

HTTP/1.1 502 Proxy Error ( The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. ISA Server is not configured to allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests.

Let say I configure my openvpn on port 443, I face then another problem, my ISP blocks all ports 1024. Are there any solutions? Is setting up a middle server with httpTunnel (http://www.neophob.com/serendipity/index.php?/archives/85-GNU-HTTPtunnel-v3.3-Windows-Binaries.html) necessary?

Any help would be very appreciated,

Ketou

Help in OpenVPN

Hello Members,
I used Open VPN to establish a virtual private network(vpn).
Though my final task is to create a site-to-site vpn, currently I am simulating it between two machines within the same LAN, acting one machine as a server and the other as a client.
To come to the details of my configuration, I used Windows xp with service pack 2 as my operating systems in both of my PCs.
I used the tunneling vpn, that is the dev tun. And I think the vpn connection is established between the two machines because I can ping the one from the other using their vpn ip addresses. Even I can make the client’s traffic pass through the server though not fully complete. In other words, I included the directive redirect-gateway def1 [local] in my server configuration file.
In my setup I faced one problem. That is,
As I mentioned it in the above, my LAN network address is 192.168.1. 0 and the vpn address is 10.8.0.0. To make it clear, the server directive is assigned as follows
server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0
While the vpn connection is active between the server and the client ( with vpn addresses 10.8.0.1 and 10.8.0.6 respectively), if I try to ping other PCs in the LAN using their normal host id, say for example 192.168.1.9, it pings without problem.
Here, my question is, is it possible to ping other PCs out of the vpn from the vpn-connected pc and vice ver sally while the Open VPN server and client are running or forming tunnel between them?
How can I configure the setup so that only the server and client can communicate one another, nothing else while they are running? How can I block pinging from the vpn-connected PCs to the non-vpn connected PCs and pinging from non-vpn connected to the vpn-connected PCs?
I am stuck at this point, I could not proceed to the next steps.
Any answers, suggestions and feed-backs are welcome.
Thank you in advance,
