Cannot access Windows Shares through VPN Tunnel

I have two wrv210 routers, hardware name WRTR-221G_V01 running the latest firmware 2.0.0.11 and have an established tunnel between them. When the tunnel was first connected all Windows resources were visible in Windows Explorer and shares were accessible from either end of the tunnel. This configuration worked perfect for two days, now no Windows resources show up on either end of the VPN Tunnel in Windows Explorer. Computers and the routers can be pinged from either end. Remote desktop and remote assistance work through the tunnel. Have checked the Broadcast/Multi-cast setting in the router and has had no positive results. The units have been reset to factory defaults and re-configured with no success.
Drives can not be mapped \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\share to any of the computer through the VPN Tunnel. All mapping work correctly locally on both ends of the tunnel.

There are two computers, one at each end of the tunnel running Windows XP Pro. All other computers on both ends of the tunnel are running Vista Ultimate and Windows 7. Both networks are stable and all resources can be accessed locally respectively.

What are the protocol(s) that allows Windows Resources to broadcast over the Network and through the VPN Tunnel and how is it enabled and verified with in the router?

What is the correct Router configured to allow the correct protocols to be broadcast/passed through the VPN Tunnel?

I have posted a picture of my current setup where I have two DGFV388 routers connected by a VPN
The VPN works but when I try to ping 85.119.60.1 from LAN 192.168.3.x it does not go through the VPN tunnel but is blocked by the ISP
What other settings do I need to make?

VPN from public wifi hotspots to my home internet connection

I don't trust public hotspots. I'd like to sit in a public wifi hotspot like coffee shop, connect via VPN to my local network at
home and use my home internet connection (cable modem) to access the outside world. Does anyone have any experices in any Linksys/Cisco
Products like Cisco WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router, Cisco RV042 that supposedly lets me to do this.

I know I'd be getting a huge bandwidth hit by surfing via this method but I don't do that much heavy lifting while in coffee shops anyway,
I just want to be protected.

For what it's worth I'm using a Windows 7 laptop, but I haven't even configured the router enough yet to have to worry about the client
end of things...

Thanks & Regards
