Premium Channel Rebate Offers

I noticed on the Starz website they have a $25 cash back offer for new subscribers. You have to mail in a copy of your last 3 bills showing you are a new Starz subscriber. I was going to do this, but my bill only shows Ultimate HD, and does not specifically list Starz even though it is part of the package. Has anyone been successful with this type of offer? I subscribed to Ultimate HD last fall so I should qualify as a new subscriber. I believe Showtime has a similar $25 rebate offer.

On my 7100 p-1 and p-2 boxes, the VOD menu has been updated to a new format (with a small video preview screen and info posters for most programs). However, the VOD menu on my 7232 DVR remains the same. Why wouldn't all of the boxes have updated to the same new format?

Three router solution - Take 2 Question

This is definitely a complex setup. I have some questions about it:

The guide says to provide static assignments to the STBs as shown in the actiontec. Now if I am using the default IP address subnet of 192.168.0.1 and my STB gets IP address of 192.168.0.100 and so forth, can I forward the respective ports from my primary router to 192.168.0.x addresses if my primary router IP is on a different subnet (192.168.1.x)? I notice the STB ignores the actiontec's DHCP assignment rules: I have the actiontec set to start assigning addresses from 192.168.1.3, but whenever I connect and power on a STB, the first STB gets 192.168.1.100, instead of 192.168.1.3. I have a server that is currently being static-ed 192.168.1.100, so the STBs need to be on a different address. Can I static IP my STBs on the actiontec router?

Verizon should mimic TWC on demand website UI..

I was over my friends setting up for a superbowl party in the NYC area and was checking out the TWC website for their on demand offerings. Its amazing how nicely its setup to quickly see what each network offers for its on demand.

http://www.twondemand.com/tv/default.aspx

You can quickly see, for example, what is currently available on demand for the free channels. Now try to do the same with the Verizon on demand website and its impossible to find what free on demand shows are available by network. Anyone else feel the same?

Recording NASCAR, Season pass

Hi,

On my old TiVo I was able to make a season pass to record Sprint Cup races by making a custom search using keywords "Live" "Sprint Cup" "Nascar Racing" that usually got me all the races.

How can I set that up on my new VZ DVR?

DVR Issue

For some reason it seems like the DVR is recording pieces of shows or not recording the whole show. This has happened twice in the last 48 hours. Once it recorded Southland in two pieces one for 42 minutes and the second piece for 15. The second time on a different channel it only recorded 35 minutes of an hour call. The DVR is not full or anywhere close to it by the way

[HD] Flat screen TV's, Cablecards? What do you do?

Hello everyone. My wife and I are in the stone age with a 32" tube TV that takes up quite a bit of room. We are looking to put a LCD TV above the fireplace, but my question is regarding set-top boxes and cablecards. Since we would really prefer to keep things neat and tidy and not show the cables running down to a big bulky set-top box, what do we do? I've been told to get a TV with a cablecard slot, but until I get out to a store I wanted to do some early research online. Is this is the way to go to get our HD channels or is there a small HD box that can be mounted to the back of the TV? We do not have any any of the premium movie channels. We are not looking to spend a ton of money... would love to find something under $500. Ideally, I think a 42" would be about right (we're sitting about 9'-10' away from the TV). It will not have a stereo system, gaming system, or the internet hooked up to it nor do we plan to.

I appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks.

[VOD] Stuttering (both video and audio) in VHO8

I'm curious as to whether or not anyone else is experiencing stuttering with VOD content in VHO8?

I have two Cisco (335HDC) boxes, and on both I'm seeing video and audio stuttering. The issue occurs randomly throughout playback of any VOD title, be it a movie, tv show or even just a short clip.

When I say "stuttering" I mean that video distorts and tends to macroblock, and with audio I get chirping/stops/starts.

My install was done in September of last year, with fresh runs of coax to both STBs. My router is an Actiontec Rev F bridged with and sitting behind a Linksys WRT320N. (My ONT is using Ethernet as opposed to Coax.)

Typically, I've only seen such stuttering if I'm using a majority of my internet bandwidth (35/35 plan) for torrenting, and that's understandable. However, for the past several months, the issue is present regardless of bandwidth consumption.

Any ideas as to what's causing this issue?

Getting billing errors corrected?

For the last three billing cycles, Verizon has charged me for the wrong number of Multiroom DVRs. My first complaint to their CSR in November resulted in a credit on my Jan bill but the added multiroom dvr remained on my bill. Complained again in Jan but the problem remains and there was NO credit in the new Feb bill. Was on the phone last night with CSR for 60 minutes, of which I only could speak with someone for a total of 21 minutes. Asked to speak with a supervisor and after a ten minute hold got a voice mail box. Was finally able to get CSR to log a trouble ticket when I called back AGAIN, but still have not received the supervisor call back. Any advice on how I can make some progress???

CLID (Caller-ID) question - Northern VA

I've been frustrated by the CLID feature - it keeps disappearing from my setup. Had FiOS TV since 8/06, and delighted w/the feature when it became available; but often just disappears. Unplug, wait re-start the DVR (you know the drill).
Anyone know how to make this feature STAY on??
Thx
