[DVR] Recording Multiple programs on DVR STB ??

My daughter has just gotten FIOS (triple play).

She says she can watch recorded content from any STB equipped TV in house but there is only one recording function and that it can only record two sources and watch another previously recorded program.

Is this a different setup than most cable systems (Comcast/Optonline etc.) where you can record two sources on each DVR equipped STB but only play them back on the STB they were recorded on?

Thanks,

Paul

On screen caller ID not working

Has anyone in the MA area had problems with the on-screen caller ID? Mine has stopped working, and it could coincide with my switch to digital voice, but I cannot be sure. It certainly hasn't worked since the switch, but may not have been working shortly before that.

Called the FiOS solutions center, they said it should be working, and opened a trouble ticket. Said the commit time (time at which it should be working) would be 3pm this afternoon. But it has not been fixed.

[HDMI] double play is needed

My 22 year old daughter just moved into an apartment in Manhattan with a roommate. In choosing providers Verizon is offering on its website. Triple play at 89.95. Time Warner offers double play at 85. They signed up for time Warner.
They figured they would never ever use the phone.
They were afraid that after one year they would not be able to afford Verizon. As growth in fios slows down, Verizon has to admit to itself that wireline is dead and offering it is driving customers to cable. Both roommates are Verizon blackberry users.

Using Fios TV and DirecTV on same outlet

I am moving into an apartment building in NYC that has a DirecTV service for the entire building, as well as offers the option of Fios.

I am getting Verizon's FIOS phone and internet service, but I want the sports channels that DirectTV provides. However, I really like the FIOSTV expanded HD selection, particularly among premium channels.

Anybody know if it is possible to work my jacks and wiring so I can run both DirecTV and Fios TV?

Thanks

Does FIOS TV install via COAX have to disturb ethernet?

At my house we have Verizon FIOS with ethernet AND coax being run into our house from the ONT.

I currently have internet only (50/20) though ethernet. They provided a router but showed me how to release the IP so I can use my own, so I do use my own wireless n router.

I am probably going to be adding FIOS TV (not a bundle) on a month to month basis from April to June. I've been told on these boards that I can get FIOS TV on a month to month basis, but may have to pay installation. Sux but doable.

My question:
If I do so, considering there is both ethernet and coax running from my ONT, does my FIOS internet set up have to be disturbed for FIOS TV? Or will they do whatever they need to with the coax and leave my internet set up alone?

Thanks.
