7500 WEP works but no WPA

Finally got highspeed available in a rural area, dsl via Frontier in Michigan.

Hooked it up today and was going through the router settings. They setup WEP as the default so I switched to WPA and it won't acquire a key.

I tried multiple combinations of WPA, WPA2, WPA ANY, tkip, aes, tkip+aes, etc...

I tried both wireless utilities on my dell laptop and I tried it on my 360. One of the laptop utilities gives you a good bit of info and it would show aes or tkip key ; absent.

WEP works just fine.

Westell 327W Problems

Hi I'm having problems with my westell 327W router(provided by Hawaiian Telecom). I tried calling tech support but it's a nightmare I've waited 30 minutes+ once just to get hung up on. Maybe I'll try to call again later but I can't even get through right now. The problem is my connection speed to the internet for the past 2-3 weeks It's been very slow. When I check my routers Static IP(think that's what its called) I see the Connection Overview and my speed's are 1792 Kbits/sec and 448 Kbits/sec. Before my internet started acting up I would get an average of 7800Kbits/sec and 1500Kbits/sec(basically the advertised speeds). I have not changed my plan but I was wondering if maybe it has something to do with the router itself, the configuration, dsl filter, or maybe the provider.

-I just changed my Phone line outlet? and nothing has changed
-turned off my wireless
-restarted the router

Westell 7500

So i have been having this problem for a while now.

I do not get disconnected but it seems that whenever my DSL connection starts using a lot of bandwidth it then crashes to zero..

I took this picture to demonstrate streaming a youtube video. You can see at first it is streaming fine, but then starts doing weird stuff. There was no one else on the line. Any other info needed i can obtain if some one thinks they might know whats going on.

My guess is that the copper of the house line is old and bad and causing problems.

using westell 7500 with 5 static ip addresses?

How does one use a Westell 7500 with 5 static ip service?

Can I set this modem into bridge mode and plug in 4 seperate computers ,each with its own static ip set in each network card?

While in bridge mode, will the wireless still work?

Can I connect a 5th computer (with the last static setting) via the wireless?

thanks for any help

I know from previous setups, we used a 6110 modem (pure bridge non routed) with a router behind it...But with 7500 when you set into bridge, the routing is disabled??

Westell 7500 - interferes with server

Hello -

We are having a problem with a Westell 7500 DSL modem/router supplied by our ISP @ Fairpoint.net. Everytime we connect the Westell to the server, the server reboots... and reboots... and reboots. Here's the scanario.

We're in a food pantry with 5 PCs upstairs networked to a switch fed by the Westell. We just had an Intel dual processor P-III server with Windows 2003 R2 donated to us so we're trying to let it join the network. We ran commercial Cat5 from server to the switch, powered up the server, it lit up then rebooted. It kept repeating this but the period that it would stay up varied; sometimes 10 seconds and sometimes 10 minutes. Never the same and it doesn't matter if we log in to Windows or not. It will sometimes reboot at the POST, before or after.

I first elminated the network internally and externally by unplugging the Cat5 link from the Westell to the switch. The server stayed up. So then, let's go direct to the Westell from the server. And reboots started happening again. So it's just the server and the Westell, nothing else. I called Fairpoint's tech support - no help but they did offer to send a second 7500 on the premise that the first one might be defective. It arrived and I simply powered the replacement up (sans config), plugged in the Cat5 to the server and fired it up. Still reboots occurred in the same frequency and without pattern. We put the server on a UPS with voltage regulation - still reboots occurred.

I brought in an old wireless router from home. Put it and the server together with Cat5 (again, just the two devices, no network). Server stayed lit for a couple of hours with no reboot.

I had already taken the server out of the basement and set it up upstairs on the different circuit breaker trying to eliminate "dirty power". It stayed up for 2.5 hours - no reboot. I took the server home and let it run for 15 hours. Returned to the office and brought the Westell upstairs and joined it with the server. Reboots abounding. I set the server in place downstairs, turned on the Westell but DID NOT run the Cat5 over - just let the two sit together unjoined. Server is happy. Plugged in the Cat5 and down she went in about 45 seconds.

I then took the replacement Westell and disabled the wireless radio thinking that RFI must be getting in to the cabling/wiring hardware somehow. Reboots still occurred. So anytime I put the server and either Westell 7500 together the server barfs.

What does this sound like to you experts here? Would installation of Cat6 cable provide any isolation? Is there any kind of filter that could be placed on the Cat5 link that would suppress this kind of intereference? Everyone I've talked to says they can't recall this kind of behavior. I also wonder if there's a number for Westell's manufacturing or sales dept.

I'd really love to get some sort of clue.

Trouble with hooking up wifi to 7500

My Centurylink repairman dropped off a Model 7500 Modem because I was having trouble with old one, so was just replacement not upgrade. Works fine with my desktop and laptopp(Windows XP) and Iphone but problem getting my wifes laptop which has (Vista Home Premium) if that matters. The trouble is laptop recognizes the signal from modem and I type in correct password but on this laptop every time it fails and I get a signal"timed out", any help or ideas on how to correct this would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Cant get HP C4795 wireless printer to hook up to 7500

Just switched to the 7500 from a 6100G. Used a netgear wireless router with the 6100G - no problems getting the hardware to find each other. Now with the 7500 I can't get the printer up. All the other hardware hooks up(IPAD,IPODS, laptop, droid phones) - any suggestions? I didn't get a manual with this from the phone company and tech support wasn't much help
