Our September 11th (9/11) Donation Fund
opened september 21st

In response to the terrible events of September 11th 2001 in our home city of New York, we decided to encourage our members to make a donation to the New York Firefighters disaster relief fund. At least 200 area firefighters are missing presumed dead. To open the donations, we have pledged $2000. Anyone who wishes to help in this way can enter the amount of money that they also donated into the appropriate field of their user profile - extras section..

we will total all the amounts and display them on the home page as user contributions received to-date, along with our $2000.

The instructions for giving to the fund are on the page IAFF - Charity fund. Please make your donation per their instructions (they accept credit cards online or mailed checks) then report it to us on your user profile page in order to be included in the home page count.

Excerpt from the above page:

This fund is the only one directly affiliated with the IAFF, the Uniformed Firefighters Association of New York, Local 94 and the New York Uniformed Fire Officer Association, Local 854," Schaitberger continued. "Our brothers and sisters appreciate this generosity."

"In the aftermath of this tragedy, the families of our fallen brothers and sisters shouldn't have to worry about money," said Vinnie Bollon, General Secretary-Treasurer of the IAFF. "The New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund will make sure they get the assistance they need."

Contributions are tax deductible.

Why did we pick this charity over others? well, the staff of DSLR live and work in New York City and heard the sirens of fire engines many times a day, sometimes cursing them for interrupting our concentration. Most of those crews now have dead or injured members. To give something now is the least we can do.
