fixed ipWhat is the advantage of a fixed ip? It makes it easier to operate servers for one, as you can happily assign a domain name to it, and hand out business cards listing the name, without finding it has changed the next day. There are 3rd party companies that will sign you up for their DNS services to support DNS lookup for dynamic IP, but they are not a perfect solution, as they probably depend on putting a very short time-to-live on the DNS address, meaning it cannot be cached around the world.. this slows down the use of your site, as any DNS queries for your domain must find their way all the way back to the dynamic IP company servers. If they do cache the IP address for a while, to improve performance, there is the chance that an ip change can make you temporarily unreachable.
