Tags: Mediacom Despite promises by Comcast that customer service is their very top priority, another customer satisfaction study shows Comcast is the least liked broadband ISP in the country -- and falling. According to the newest study (pdf) and carrier rankings by the American Customer Satisfaction Index, Comcast and Time Warner Cable continue to battle for last place in satisfaction for phone, TV and broadband service. For broadband service, AT&T U-Verse managed to take the top spot with a score of 69, while Comcast was in last place with a score of 56. That's a 2% drop from Comcast since the last study, likely in part thanks to the negative press surrounding its doomed merger attempt. It's worth noting that while AT&T's score of 69 sounds good, AT&T's leading a pack of notable bad performers. For context, Amazon gets a score of 86 while Netflix sees a score of 81 in the index. When it comes to TV services, Verizon takes the top spot with a score of 71, with Time Warner Cable taking the last-place spot with a score of 51, a drop of 9% since the last study. Comcast in contrast saw a score of 54, a drop of 10% since the last study. As for phone service, Vonage and Bright House Networks took the top spot with a tie score of 73. Frontier, Time Warner Cable and Comcast took the bottom three spots with scores of 59, 61 and 63, respectively. "There was a time when pay TV could get away with discontented users without being penalized by revenue losses from defecting customers, but those days are over," states ACSI founder Claes Fornell. "Today people have more alternatives than ever before. Consumer abandonment of pay TV is shaking up the industry and lower satisfaction could mean even more cord cutting by subscribers ahead."On October 7, the Belle Plaine City, Minnesota Council held a public hearing regarding the city’s franchise renewal agreement with Mediacom, the community’s cable television provider. The council called for the public hearing to discuss the proposed renewal of Mediacom’s 10-year contract with the city, which expires in a little over 11 months. Although not mandatory, a sub-committee of the city council recommended that a public hearing be held to allow input from residents regarding the job the franchise has done the past decade. Last week, Karl noted that Mediacom was just "tired of hearing about" Google Fiber. Now, Community Broadband Networks takes notice that Mediacom is now tired of hearing citizens in Emmetsburg, Iowa point out Mediacom’s lack of investment in their local infrastructure. Right on the heels of a suite of new price hikes by Time Warner Cable, Comcast is also ringing in the holiday season with price increases that will impact both the company's broadband and television subscribers. This pricing change sheet being sent to customers in New Jersey notes that users can expect across the board hikes on other services and packages as well. The notice informs Performance customers who bundle TV service that their monthly rate will increase from $45.95 to $48.95. Cable operator Mediacom (see our user reviews) has released their earnings report, which notes the company posted a net loss of $6.6 million in the quarter. The company also said that it has lowered its year-end revenue guidance from 8-9% growth to 7-8%, news which drove the company's stock downward on Wall Street. Broadband revenues grew by 19.6%, and the company added 13,000 new broadband customers. Best of Last 7 days
