Why do I like broadband?:

Unfortunately, I have cable. I shouldn't even have to answer this question. The net no longer functions well on dial-up connections. I'm a computer professional and support clients via broadband remote connections.
Remote-control sessions are MUCH more reliable on broadband.
Verizon FIOS promises to supplant cable. So, Verizon is no longer provisioning DSL in my area! *sigh* Love/need broadband, but have no options...and cable is down right now as I'm editing this - I'm on RoadRunner dialup!! ..new update on 6/3/2006 - JUST came back up from being out of service for 3 days! I was on RR dial-up again. FIOS is not quite rolled out yet. Despite problems that may happen, I'm switching the second it's available! I was out for more than a WEEK a few months ago (Feb, 2006) and now another 3 full days! Not good enough. Cable should be better than this, but escalation to 'outside' people is god awful.

I work in the industry:

Information Technology - I own a small consulting firm. Most of my clients are from various other industries.

On TV I'm watching..:

Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica; the Daily Show and the Colbert Report - and many reruns of Law and Order, ER, Judging Amy, and Charmed. :)
TOO MUCH TV!!

Recommended books:

Too many to list...
Went through the Isaac Asimov novels pretty quickly...read Lord of the Rings trilogy - highly recommend

Kitchen Confidential - amazing insight into the world of chefs!

Many tech books...Dummies books are excellent. Recommend any of the O'Reiley books for tech heads...whatever the topic. Also Microsoft Press produces some pretty good guides and reference books.
