Earlier this week, the Senate passed a bill that would delay the digital television transition from February 17 to June 12. The bill was crafted after concern arose that millions of Americans would be unprepared for the switch, despite more than a year of steady public announcements. The bill didn't fare so well in the House today, the Associated Press reports that the 258-168 vote failed to clear the two-thirds threshold needed for passage, largely due to GOP resistance to the bill. Roughly 2.6 million people are stuck on a waiting list for $40 coupons to buy new converter boxes.
