Netflix Working on Cable Deal If You Can't Beat 'em... Wednesday Mar 07 2012 09:02 EDT Just a week or two after Netflix CEO Reed Hastings argued that Netflix should be a complement to cable and not a competitor, Reuters reports that Netflix is in talks with several of the largest cable companies to bring Netflix streaming to their set top offerings. Hastings has argued that HBO Go is the company's biggest competitor, and that he hopes to see Netflix become more akin to a premium streaming channel. The offering could involve set top integration, or it could involve simply adding Netflix to your cable bill. The arrangement comes as Verizon prepares to launch a streaming service of their own with Redbox sometime this summer. |
