where are you seeing prices? None of the links had any prices. I doubt that T-Mobile will be anywhere near as bad as Verizon. Plus, they have unlimited, Verizon hasn't had that for years.

Those plans are for outlets that can't support TMo's new EIP. So those prices reflect a traditional handset subsidy.

Value Plans are cheaper.

I paid $300 for my Nexus 4 and I have the $30 plan with unlimited data, text, and 100 minutes, and I get 4G speeds.

From the website *First 5GB at up to 4G speeds Not quite my definition of "unlimited" but whatever. Also you won't get anything better than 256 kbps when you're not in a T-Mobile area which is most everywhere.

It's actually "faux-G" but speeds are not much different if not faster than 4G LTE. I too have the $30 unlimited Data (5GiB "faux-g"), Text and 100 minutes on a Samsung Galaxy S III that I use exclusively for tethering my tablets and sometimes my laptop. I also have a Galaxy Note II on contract that has unlimited everything.

Are you sure that's GiB, rather than GB?

I'm fairly certain that it's GiB. It isn't an HDD so I feel confident in saying GiB.

So in other words your UNLMITED data actually has a limit. That's not false advertising or anything.

The data is unlimited but the speeds are not.

I'm 100% sure people looking for "unlimited" data are not also looking to have their speeds greatly reduced after just 5 GB. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Verizon pre-paid plans are not $99. I mean sure they still stink but they aren't $99. I'd never go pre-paid anyway.

They used to have $30 for 5Gb 4G speed data + 100 min + unlimited text. I guess that plan will be killed as too cheap now

That plan was never really promoted because it was only for Walmart prepaid initially then a web only deal. While I would be disappointed if it were discontinued I think my next plan will be the unlimited $70 plan.

It's still there. It says right on it that it's still offered just not promoted. In other words if you don't already know about it they aren't going to tell you.

That plan is different in that it has only 1500 text/data combo and 500 MB of high seed data included. The plan referred to above has 5GB of high speed data included as well as 100 mins. talk and unlimited text.

It's always been Wal-Mart or T-Mobile.com only. Even before all of this, you sure as hell weren't going to see it in marketing documents for salespeople.

I would be very surprised if anyone gets kicked off of it, and slightly surprised if they stopped allowing people to get on it.

And I still wouldn't care. Their network is terrible. AT&T costs a bit more, but you get a whole lot more.

Honestly I think that T-mobile's new pricing here is just rotten terrible. They price just under AT&T/Verizon but don't offer the network value and cap the hell out of everything. Add you must buy your own phone (good "IF" it can actually save you money over another offer).

10+ years ago T-mobile plans used to cost 1/2 of AT&T. Their network was not as big but it was a value to me as a poor collage student who needed to save every penny. Now they think they can get all the bargain hunters being a few dollars less than AT&T? Not to mention MVNO's will eat their market nitch for lunch! T-mobile has some great ideas but their marketing and pricing always screw themselves over. Remember @Home/UMA service that was never advertised even by most store REPS?

Just an example of how badly T-mobile's marketing pricing can (I think WILL) fail is I had a 11+ year old T-mobile family account that I kept forever because of the grandfathered low rate (2 lines $49 1000 min+free UMA). With data+text and a crap ton of fees/taxes I paid $130+.

I dropped my T-mobile account to port my numbers to Ting (ting.com Sprint-Data+Sprint/Verizon-Voice/text reseller). I'm paying $27/month for hosting 2 Android phones with talk/text/data. That included my taxes and fees! Plus voice coverage is better. This is what I mean by MVNO's killing T-mobile's STUPID pricing "we'll just be a few dollars cheaper than AT&T" plans. Even Straight Talk offers better coverage for less $.

I stuck it out with T-mobile for a LONG time. But it's like these days they are making caviar with wine arm chair decisions on how to market/price their company and not in touch with US the customers at all. Just my opinion.

If I wanted to get 4 lines (me, wife, and my parents who live in the same town)

line 1 = $50 + $10 for extra data (2GB)
line 2 = $30 + $10 for extra data
line 3 = $10 + $10 for extra data my mom will never use, otherwise leave her at the included 500MB
line 4 = $10 + $10 for extra data my dad will never use, otherwise leave him at the included 500MB

so we are at $140 per month (split 4 ways that is $35/mo... plus whatever taxes and fees)

now for phones... 3 of us will probably pay up front for nexus 4's, my mom could decide to get the Note 2 or whatever and do a down-payment and monthly payments.

that seems good to me... just need to see how good the coverage really is in my area as I have been on VZ.
