Pirate Bay Blockade Whac-a-Mole Continues in UK
Sky Takes to Blocking Access to Proxy Websites
Since last year, UK ISPs have been required to block user access to the Pirate Bay, for whatever good that has done. The website simply set up a new suite of IP addresses for blocked users, quickly allowing most users to bypass the blockade. Now at least one ISP, Sky, is going above and beyond the initial order and has taken to blocking access to the proxy websites being used to skirt the filters. "I find the blocks to be a bold move since there are so many proxy sites and workarounds out there," insists the operator of Pirate Proxy, one of the larger websites. "If they do continue blocking proxy sites, it will be a cat and mouse game on a large scale," he says. Said mice have already set up a website letting users know which proxy sites are being filtered.

Oh Boy

Even if this blocking somehow becomes extremely effective and a VPN service is hypothetically disrupted to the point where the business fails, what a nightmare it will be for the next company that attempts to operate a completely different type of business using any of these same IP's.

Re: Yawnnnnnn

There are plenty of other examples of government censorship online that could be covered. This is more of a grey area between censorship and enforcing copyright laws.

Re: Yawnnnnnn

It is no grey area.
It is 100% censorship as nothing hosted on pirate bay is in violation of any copyrights.

Nuclear option

Why not simply use the tor network?

That would definitively and conclusively end the cat and mouse game in favor of permanent enabling of TPB access.

I mean the chinese government, king of censorship, even has a very difficult time stamping out tor.

How about ..
