It's funny what you typed isn't tinfoil-hat'esk anymore. They actually DO know if you are going to sign up or not just by looking into your past electronic activity, website, and communications history.
They can see it in real time too...

Re: How long...said by pandora:I can't see any law stopping this. We need a digital, electrical and biological right of privacy added to the Bill or Rights. That would be the ideal, but instead those in power and their DOLT followers just keep insisting that the Constitution is "just a piece of paper", and that it outdated and meaningless. They completely fail to mention that it was THEIR JOB to see to it that the Constitution be kept current with the times, something they failed to do because it was an inconvenient document anyway. -- "when the people have suffered many abuses under the control of a totalitarian leader, they not only have the right but the duty to overthrow that government." - The U.S. Declaration of Independence

In what way did I even remotely covey that in my statement? -- I do not, have not, and will not work for AT&T/Comcast/Verizon/Charter or similar sized company.

Re: How long...I agree with you whole heartedly! Why do ANYTHING to try to return America back to being a free and constitutional nation with a legitimate government that follows the rule of law? Why risk an IRS audit or anything else? Go America!
I, for one, fully support our government and all that they do to keep us safe from our enemies. The depth of my apathy towards this type of communications monitoring delves below that of most people's refusal to give a rat's ass.
Are they still monitoring? Do you think they bought that? I'll be sure to send my letter.

Re: How long...That's funny. You are more likely to be hit by lighting while you watch your winning powerball numbers come across the screen and an angry bear come crashing into your living room to eat you than for you or anyone you know to be hurt by "our enemies". Which by the way are our enemies because "we" can't keep our noses out of other people's business.

Re: How long...Cute idea, but if it didn't automatically get filtered out of the system because of identical copies of the same text, or even the same group of trigger words, I'd be really disappointed in the NSA's system design. Re: Are you a loyal citizen? That is a scary, mock poster; however, in reality, they are already listening to everyone all of the time. Now we only need to be concerned about what is deemed to be a national threat. Those decisions can seemingly be adjusted on a whim, as recent history has shown.

I am concerned about government doublespeak.Whose security? Citizens or big business? Recently a package delivery company settled with the government regarding delivering prescription drugs shipped from Canada. How did the government track down the shippers? The problem here is by tracking e-mail and telephone calls of Canadian drug stores. The government can then monitor the Canadian drug store customers. That information can be used to locate other drug stores shipping prescription drugs to the US. Would that be called collateral damage to citizens.

Good luck....with getting the Patriot Act modified. It gave the government all the control they'd ever need. Do you really think they'd give it up?

GeezzzBeen saying rights are being tossed out for years, even on this site. And now everyone (after saying I don't know what I'm talking about) is upset that it really is happening. Geezzz.
It'll take you looking wrong at a cop and being shot down, for you to actually think with your last dieing thought to get it.
Demand your rights. F the children. Make it for the people! I am somebody's child too. Your children aren't safe either. -- Damn spy drones! They are interfering with my sun spots.

Re: GeezzzRemember, until last Thursday, all of this was "speculation" and "hearsay" by insane, anti-government, gun-nut, Republican, racist, anti-gay, truther, birther kooks that could NEVER happen in America, and did not really exist except in the figments of the imagination of clinically-paranoid hicks.
Today, of course there is spying, it's been going on for years, everyone knew it was going on, what do you live under a rock? And if you don't like it, if you don't think wholesale spying is A Good Thing (TM), you're just an insane, anti-government, gun-nut, Republican, racist, anti-gay, truther, birther kook and the only place the Constitution ever existed was in the figments of the imagination of clinically-paranoid hicks.
(Oh, and I've been talking about this for over a decade, too. Only that back then I was a pansy, liberal, limp-wristed, pro-gay, anti-gun, freedom hating, far-left, communist who hated America and the only reason I believed it was because I was a clinically-paranoid pinko.)
It's so entertaining! | |

NSA is good for the economyIf it wasn't for the NSA wanting to store EVERYTHING, do you think the price of drives and memory would be as low as it is?
We should all be immensely grateful for all the money they are spending on saving data for us. It eliminates much of the need for us to perform our own backups.

Two things to seriously think aboutPonder these two things:
1. If you believe in this cause, sign up. If you sit there and don't do it because you're even a little bit afraid of being put on some sort of watch list or something similar, then consider that the damage is already being done. There aren't enough police, soldiers, spies, etc. to oppress an entire country; the real oppression comes because people censor themselves. And once that starts, the fear builds, until what we do to ourselves is worse than what the state could do to us.
2. Consider what you will do when the politicians say no. Because they will. Programs like this are well known to the people at the top of the political order, and they're fine with them. Do you think people in those positions are going to cave because some number of people sign an online petition. Until you're ready to engage in good old-fashioned political action, you won't get anywhere. Consider why so many politicians are terrified of the NRA, the Christian Coalition, etc., despite the fact that they only represent relatively small segments of the population. It's because these organizations are serious about going after politicians who don't support them. They know what they want, they're disciplined, and they take action to reward their supporters and punish their opponents. So, as you join this group, don't think that this is going to be a walk in the park.

Re: Two things to seriously think aboutThis isn't a "cause" , this is a matter of tyranny!
These acts clearly VIOLATE the 4th Amendment of the Constitution!
The NSA and the gov't are violating our Constitutional Rights and as such are guilty of treason, and tyranny.
The solution that was created to address tyranny and treason?
The 2nd Amendment. | |
