mediacomWhile it's a pleasant surprise that they are increasing the speeds, the reaction is tempered by the fact that they won't be increasing their caps for these tiers and that issues with streaming (netflix, hulu, youtube) during peak hours is still a problem in many areas. Still, it's a step in the right direction.

Re: mediacomI have a 3TB cap... seems reasonable to me. 105-10x10-12 day in and day out. 100% stable for the past year. I can't complain one single bit at this point

no lovethis is the second time since the data caps were put in place for everyone that mediacom has upped either the data cap or the speeds to everything except for the 15mb package and the intro package....im glad mediacom loves its rich customers so much to give them better internet but doesnt love everyone with the intro and prime packages as much

Re: no loveHowever, the regular pricing is $49.95 for 15Mb and $59.95 for what will be 50Mb in June seems like a no-brainer to me to upgrade

Re: no loveunless you cant afford that...from the price i have now to upgrading to the new 50mb would add 45 dollars to my bill which would mean i would be paying mediacom just under 200 for phone internet and tv...so its not a no brainer and its a slap in the face of the people than cant afford the higher tiers that they get no love from this company

Re: no loveYou must be on promotion, But when that expires what I have posted above is the correct rate unless you have the light/intro tier which is 29.95 for 3mb which is NOT an option for me.

Re: no lovecorrect ive been on a promotion for a while now and just re uped for another 2 years...thats still not the point...mediacom does all this for the people that can pay them the most money yet craps on the people that cant afford much...they did the same thing when they increased the data caps for the upper two tiers and now they are doing it for everyone above their lowest 2 tiers....all about the money with them

Re: no lovekinda hard when you have people in the house that wants to watch tv...would be alot easier to cut the tv out and get a higher tier but then you have data cap issues that again mediacom doesnt do anything about

exactly, the upload on intro is painstakingly slow. so whats their excuse? money, they just want people to upgrade. sadly im in an area that after the big switch antennas stopped working, even antenna web says a mast mount would be lucky to get one channel. and im not in the boonies.
they should at LEAST up intro to meet the definition of "broadband", fact is $30/mo is all im willing to pay them for internet. because i dont like the pricing model of double dipping for both speed and data cap. if they want UBB then every one should get the same speed and just buy the data they want. or give them unlimited data and let them buy the speed they want. but doing both to me at least is double dippin.
id drop the basic cable part if i could (another $30 for crap channels) but dads 72, its about all hes got. and theres no way in hell id be able to teach him to use a roku, if its more than power on, channel up. forget it.
oh, btw, if where going "price to MB value comparison" your going to tell me it costs them $10/per MB to deliever 3MBps on the low tier, but $1/MB on the higher side, and that should be a no brainer to upgrade? its a no brainer that mediacom severely hoses its customers.

Many friends in IowaI have many friends in various parts of Iowa that will be pleased with speed increases.
I seem to think it's the general trend of the cable industry in general and not just Comcast trying to sell their buyout of Time Warner Cable.
Maybe the new industry standard for wideband internet is 105/10 as computer applications are now demanding faster bandwidth and file sizes are getting larger. I notice larger file sizes when I download App updates in the App Store.
I'm sure the other companies like Charter and Cox will follow suit.

Re: Many friends in IowaCharter has increased their 30/4 base speed o\package to 60/4 in most markets now for no additional costs. Great download speed but 6-10 up would be better. I will be a Charter customer when I move from Boston to Asheville, NC

Nice! Now how about expanding?Mediacom has done a very good job on staying competitive with speeds and pricing. Now how about expanding the plant in the areas that they serve?
