We've spent many years following the exploits of spyware outfit 180Solutions, from their breakup of anti-spyware coalitions to their endless production of malicious adware. Despite claims of reform, spyware researcher Ben Edelman in February showed how the company was still engaged in sleazeware, installing adware without user consent. Renamed Zango, today the outfit settled a suit with the FTC for $3 million. "Millions of consumers received pop-up ads without knowing why, and had their Internet use monitored without their knowledge," the FTC said.
