If you download it, then you don't see the commercials -- which is what the networks complain about. It's again, all about the cash...in this case ad revenue.

Well, I agree....
I think the Seinfeld thing is a pretty poor example considering the show is in syndication now and not in the current prime time lineup.
However, again -- this all comes down to the commercials. If you were to actually watch the commercials like you're supposed to (according to them ) -- when you download, you don't see them...and thus their advertisers are less likely to buy air if their ads aren't being seen.
I imagine they also don't like you having copies of the episodes cause you are of course a pirate if you download them and therefore will sell them to the highest bidder, you terrorist!!! Oh, and again to the ads...if you have them on your PC then you don't need to watch TV.
Just shows you that they can't come up with a sound argument ... ever.

How about this? We could have it mandatory for viewers to watch at least 8 hours of forced television mind expansion. Sit down, strap yourself in (literally) and have the image sent directly into your retina.

The 1984 reference is to George Orwell's book 1984. Which was actually written in 1948, and what coined the popular term "Big Brother is watching".
This particular image I believe was used in reference to the NSA, essentially implying that they wanted to institute a system similar to Big Brother.

in reply to "pervert our republic" we are not in a republic anymore since Abe Lincoln was assasinated. he presided over a republic until he created marshall law when the southern states tryed to leave the republic .. which put us in a democracy... then he was killed before he could resend his executive order.. and his v.p. was impeached so he couldn't do it either.... so thats why we have priveledges not rights...... sorry for the rampaige... | |

Besides, why should anyone be surprised, Senator BinLaden has long been one of the most successful prostitutes on the Hill.
You know folks, there really is an easy and painless solution to all this: No need to stop buying CDs if you like them, or DVDs or going to movies, etc. Just one little thing you have to do, and all you need to be able to do it is to be born in America: VOTE.

| A Felony?
The classification of a crime as a felony is usually limited to crimes against a person (violent offenses), or aggravated crimes against property (as in, stealing something very expensive, insurance fraud, etc).
If you look on this page that lists felony offenses, you'll see that the overwhelming majority of criminal offenses listed there are, in fact, crimes against a person.
The deactivation of DRM software should not be considered a felony because it is not an aggravated crime against property. DRM is something that you do not want, has been forced on you, and doesn't work right anyhow.
